Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I remember seeing some Pac clip on YouTube and they talked to him about Versace and how they wanted him to perform at their show and had something specifically created for him to wear. **** blew my mind.

Hope Migos got something for that. Black people been making these brands pop off

I can’t even go that direction with Versace. She/He (?) showed love to Pac and had him modeling and she coulda sued Migos and stopped that whole **** but let them rock. I think its cool she used their song and legally...its her name lol.

Not to mention I’m assuming Versace was hot before Pac. I was born at that time so IDK.

Yeah, Versace was huge before Migos and still huge right now. They’ll be here when Migos is gone.

A lot of brands and labels will pay rappers to mention their **** in a song

That’s a weak *** thank you

Oh wow, didn't know that. I was about to call them vultures for using the culture to their own benefit but not investing.

If that's true props to them. Did they ever reach out to Migos?

Hip hop brings more awareness to these brands, yea Versace was around and somewhat celebrated in hip hop..Migos got the younger crowd hip to it..either side of the argument can make sense here really

This isn’t the argument tho. Someone said that Versace should compensate the Migos for this...when it’s ther Brand and likeness..

If you made a song about the Lakers and it blew up...and the Lakers interpolate a part of your song in an ad...do the Lakers owe you a check?

Because that question is along the lines of what’s being argued...not if fashion brands benefit from the free promo hip hop gives it

clipse? idk why DJbooth would have the scoop tho

what duos last album was in 08-09?

They played the Drake version of Versace at the Milan Fashion back in 2013

The homie DJ’d the opening for the new Versace boutique in London 2 weeks ago, said she cool. This _ said she asked him to play Baka Not Nice, I still don’t know if he trolling or not :rollin

After listening to the podcast, basically there was no negotiation and they just wanted him out

I only watched 1 episode since Joe left EDS. Whoo kid took his spot in the episode i seen. The chemistry and flow was off. Its almost as if Joe was the show. Because he was the loud/disgruntled old head personality that matched up good with both the younger co-host. I didn't even know he left the show. I thought he took a break or something. Its going to be hard to replacing Joe. I only watched 20 minutes of the last episode, then i turned it off because it wasn't entertaining enough.

What's crazy about the entire situation. Is that all 3 have leverage to ask for more $ together as a unit/group. If all 3 ask for more money and demanded the same as what Joe asked for. They probably wouldn't have gotten what wanted. But they wouldve gotten maybe half of what they asked for. Joe asking for more money by himself wasnt going to work. Because Complex looked at EDS as a group (Nad/AK/Joe). Joe does have gift with knowing how to entertain on podcasts/debate shows. Its his personality. I won't be watching EDS if they dont get a strong personality thats entertaining like Joes.

As long as Joe keeps his podcast im good. Now to the Versace debate. I understand both sides of the argument. But if both sides won off of the song. Then both parties need to just chill and leave it alone. In my opinion you really can't argue about it to much. Migos took the Versace name and made a hit out of it. They didn't get sued for it. In return Versace took what the Migos thought of/created and made a advertisement/commercial from it. We all know Versace wouldn't of had those models say Versace in that way if the Migos had never made that song. I understand the argument. But both sides took from each other benefited. The Versace estate couldve easily sued the Migos after that song gained moment.

I'm more surprised that they didn't. Let a new Rapper make a hit out of the blue with hook related to Bad Boy or Diplomats. We all how Puff or Cam are. Thats song wouldve gotten pulled asap. Or they wouldve been getting paid more than whoever made the song.
