Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

What i will say is that it's quite comical for people to call these guys ****s, traders, capitalist pigs, say how much of a detriment they are to the black consciousness..... then turn around and ask them to quite literally fund the culture.

Especially knowing that these companies rape a majority of these artist, make billions upon billions off of hiphop & ride off into the sunset unscathed  .

For this to work you would need buy in from All of hiphop........ imagine telling a NBA youngboy or Lil Tjay they gotta break a percentage of their earnings off so a rapper who was out before they were birthed could pay his doctor bills..... I don't think that convo is going over smooth
It's as simple as insurance

When you're a rich black celeb, too many people expect them to be Robin Hood and just give all their money away. It's like people don't respect that the fact that they worked, sacrificed and earned it. They don't really deserve it, so they should be giving it away. But in their own real life, they have no problem getting that Audi or BMW instead of a Kia or Hyundai and giving that money away.
Pretty much. They want the black celebs to do for them what they're not demanding of their elected officials who only come around every few years.
I must say no matter how much we disagree i appreciate the music forum for being them. Was posting in the politics thread all of an hour before getting a warning message.

Bit of a circle jerk in there. You say anything that disrupts the status quo and they get up in arms and get mods involved. They only thing that gets an appraise is cracking on the right, but the moment you mention the left, they trying to get you out the paint.

I ain't messed with that political thread since the 2016 election. :lol

50 had an incredible Album which nothing else he did could compare .... but he still had dope songs here and there ...

As far as keeping his buzz from random beef, how? Movie, shows, investments, clothing, etc .... nothing musically related but it wasn't just beef.
I'm talking about his hop hop run.

Not his overall relevance. That's why I don't understand why ppl keep replying to me about a clothing brand or investments.

Curtis didn't keep a buzz off investments and G-Unit clothes. He was popping either off his music or who he dissed next. Then he stopped making hits and tried to stretch his run with that gimmicky whose album will sell more with Kanye which was a stunt, fake beef, and the album was whack.

Usually when we talk about a celeb's run its about the time when they were hottest. I don't recall whoever wore G-Unit tank tops figuring in to that. Its not like it was some wave where everybody was wearing that ****. Same with **** like his vitamin water investment. ******* irrelevant

All I'm saying is I don't think Curtis run was better than DMX's. It doesn't really compare. But maybe I should be super specific and keep it to just music so the discussion can end there.

Meth my guy. But stop pocket watching

I think he's speaking from a OG perspective who has been cashing checks for nearly 30 years. He's saying it nicely.

He sees the results of when artist get older and he knows a lot of this success these kids brag about is smoke and mirrors. Yeah, you can stream or tour now. What about in ten years?

And these young dudes get face tatts, so they can't even branch out in to other areas.
