Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I’m not surprised you think it was a cornball move.

I'm talking about his hop hop run.

Not his overall relevance. That's why I don't understand why ppl keep replying to me about a clothing brand or investments.

Curtis didn't keep a buzz off investments and G-Unit clothes. He was popping either off his music or who he dissed next. Then he stopped making hits and tried to stretch his run with that gimmicky whose album will sell more with Kanye which was a stunt, fake beef, and the album was whack.

Usually when we talk about a celeb's run its about the time when they were hottest. I don't recall whoever wore G-Unit tank tops figuring in to that. Its not like it was some wave where everybody was wearing that ****. Same with **** like his vitamin water investment. ****ing irrelevant

All I'm saying is I don't think Curtis run was better than DMX's. It doesn't really compare. But maybe I should be super specific and keep it to just music so the discussion can end there.

because all of that is encompassing someones run and popularity.

It's like talking about Patrick Mahomes and not including his ability to get out of the pocket in grading him as a QB. Nah, we're just going to talk about him in the pocket. That literally makes no sense.

Same with Kanye, I'm not going to talk about him as a producer, just as a rapper. You can't change the criteria in judging someone in order to fit your opinion.

50 was big as ****. If it wasn't for that, nobody would have cared about a Tony Yayo or worn those ugly *** feminine looking tank tops. A dude who has a wack sense of fashion had people buying his stuff.

This don't really match up at all :lol

If we talk about Mahomes as a QB we gonna talk about him as a QB. Not about that handful of times there was a play where he caught the ball as a receiver. That's basically what bringing up investments and clothes is, trying to tell me about how good of a linemen Mahomes also is.

If I say "Yo that Wu-Tang run was legendary.", "Yo that Outkast run was my favorite." I aint talking about Wu's Clark wallabees advertising deal or mother****ing Idelwild.

If I talk about an artist's run, I'm talking about the music.

Same with Kanye, I'm not going to talk about him as a producer, just as a rapper. You can't change the criteria in judging someone in order to fit your opinion.
There is no criteria change here. You are straight up not bringing up comparable examples.

If I want to talk about Kanye's run of course his production is included. I aint talking about no ******* Yeezys tho.

You brought up G-Unit clothing and movies. That dont got **** to do with Curtis' run.

50 was big as ****. If it wasn't for that, nobody would have cared about a Tony Yayo or worn those ugly *** feminine looking tank tops. A dude who has a wack sense of fashion had people buying his stuff.
If we were talking about Curtis' impact or influence all of that would matter.

How doesn't it when he put out a multi platinum movie soundtrack about himself

The stuff you're saying makes zero sense.

This ain't the 1970's, rappers runs have always been more than just their music. From their influence(Run DMC) to outside ventures(LL).

This ain't a conversation like who's the best producer. Of course you wouldn't include Dre or Kanye's outside interest in that.

How doesn't it when he put out a multi platinum movie soundtrack about himself
 If you want to talk about the soundtrack, mention the soundtrack.

Simple.

The movie is irrelevant

The stuff you're saying makes zero sense.
It's not hard to understand. I said it very clearly and posted examples and comparisons for you.

If I'm talking about a rapper's run I'm talking about the rapper's music; the album's, the features, the live performances, the tour, etc.

If I say "Lil Wayne's run was trash." I'm not talking about Lil Wayne's cough syrup endorsement.

If that makes zero sense to you might as well not reply.

I'm just gonna say **** all that irrelevant ****.

Pretty much. They want the black celebs to do for them what they're not demanding of their elected officials who only come around every few years.

Bit of a circle jerk in there. You say anything that disrupts the status quo and they get up in arms and get mods involved. They only thing that gets an appraise is cracking on the right, but the moment you mention the left, they trying to get you out the paint.

They got them button snitches in this thread too :Lol

I'm use to circle jerks in certain threads ..... but i ain't think it was THAT serious. Mod warnings, dudes tagging me in several post . I criticized the left & was demanded to "show my work" like a ***** just got a spare political policy laying around for NT threads, Bizarre behavior in there.

Think back 26 years, be like, "What if his birth
Was a miscarriage and I never existed?"
Have I given somethin' that if taken away you'd have missed it?
Didn't know, yet I persisted, it was the call of the wild
I merely say what's in my heart and you call it a style
Don't put it in a cage, don't mistreat it
You say you hunger for knowledge? Here it is, eat it
Having a moment here. :frown: :emoji_heart:

Took a lot of lessons from this album at 16.

I love hip hop man.

It should be noted that music forum even though it aint the wastelands like it use to be but still being overlooked allows for leeway language wise. Can't carry that over in to general. Especially a heavy trafficked thread like the politics one :lol

Basically asking for warnings or a ban if you go in there with unpopular opinions and talk crazy.

..... but this whole concept has been created by thirsty dudes and attention seeking people. How you want to gawk and look at women online all day, but not wife? Men and women both created this. So now it’s a problem because you’ll feel insecure if your girl shows her behind online? It can’t be both ways...

I’m a huge G herbo fan, but I hate this mentality because no one over calls out the gawkers, “henpecked” dudes as the old heads say, and simps who lust and beg for these type women. Stop blaming the females

Yup. Let us stay “Hamsterdamn’d” in here :lol :lol :lol

I think he's speaking from a OG perspective who has been cashing checks for nearly 30 years. He's saying it nicely.

He sees the results of when artist get older and he knows a lot of this success these kids brag about is smoke and mirrors. Yeah, you can stream or tour now. What about in ten years?

And these young dudes get face tatts, so they can't even branch out in to other areas.

it was smoke and mirrors sometimes in the 90s and 2000s too. Cats was renting cars, getting free clothes and jewelry on credit too. Cats just got smarter nowadays and anted up.

The artist of the past got used and abused by those big record labels. Kids nowadays just expanded their horizons and realized not to just solely rely on rap money or record deals.

A lot of these dudes still scam and sell drugs too. Clearly. But it’s sooooo many ways to make money nowadays. Dudes not only relying on rap checks. Meth doesn’t realize this.

For instance, cats probably got their advance of 50k in the 90s or 80s and blew it on frivolous stuff.

dudes nowadays may get a smaller, 25k advance and flip it.

Look at a dude like Curren$y. He looks savvy with his money, and his has many branches of his JetLife empire.

Dudes is putting money in all areas nowadays. Real estate, flipping cars, brand ambassadors, sponsors, etc.

Meth is being close minded

They still rent cars, mansions/air bnbs, boats, etc too. I’m not gone spend every second worrying about how dudes and chics is buying stuff, or doing this and that. It is what it is.

Nah, cats were getting money, they were just spending and being wasteful. Did you hear Meth saying he was getting $25 a show?

and it's so many ways to get money is BS. Because literally everyone is a rapper. So it dilutes everything. Show money and your longevity. The album has no value and neither does your record deal. Why do I have to give you $5,000 for a show when I can get this guy for $2. Why should I give you a good record deal, let me give you a 360.

And everyone has been saying for years that Hollywood money was better, and that's more sustainable. Where is the next Will Smith? Ice T? Ice Cube?

Curren$y has been around for 10+ years and is well over 30, you can't even group him with the kids today.
