I don't disagree, however, Reggae has been in Jamaica since the late 1920's Early 30's... It wasn't classified as Reggae during the time because it was formed during the early Rastafarian movement. They would classify it as jungle man music because Rastafarians were outcasts to society at the time and were persecuted. due to the colonization of Jamaica by the British, So everything associated with them was classified as "foolishness". Reggae didn't really get treated as a "Respectable" form of music until the 1960's due to it's popularity among young white people in the UK and Americas being infatuated with it and white men realizing they can get rich off it by signing artists to bad contracts and stealing rights to music similar to what they've done with Rap.
