Dee-1’s popped up on my in my algorithm a few times over the years. The message is usually on point whenever I give it a listen.

The thought/argument has been around for decades though. It’s a sad reality that things aren’t likely to change anytime soon because of the cyclical nature of poverty and it’s relation to violence, death, etc.

Can’t knock Meek for using his talent to escape the hood and give back to his community in the ways that he does. Like Hov said…

“I can’t help the poor if I’m one of them. So I got rich and gave back, to me that’s the win win”

Can’t knock Dee-1 for wanting better for our people, and asking artists to hold themselves to a higher standard.

Catch 22. 2 things can be true.

I mean, I understand what he's saying. This argument has been going on for 30 years. But this ain't the way. Comes off as clout chasing 🤷‍♂️
