Recreational Marijuana Sale Begins in Colorado

Weed caused too many problems with my body.

I had extreme panic attacks and anxiety at any moment, even out of my sleep.
I had blackouts in memory
And crazy hallucinations.

I had to do sleep studies at the hospital because of my bad panic etc.

I had to quit, even though I also had a lot of enjoyment from being high as well.

If I didn't have complications, I'd probably still smoke.. Probably

But there are too many positives to weed. If it can make your lungs stronger, it could be just what I could use to build my luna back up from asthma.

Its a catch 22 for some people (like myself)

But I could never down it, or point a negative finger at someone who smokes it. I just hate how some (a lot) of people grow dependent on it, or try to force weed on the world.

But then again, the weed haters are just as bad. Thus, another catch 22...

Those who enjoy, enjoy it. If you're against it, keep living your life weed free.

Is hash for sale in Colorado ?

I would pay the sales tax in my state as high as 20% per ounce just for the legality reason alone instead of buying from a dealer

hope this happens in nys

New York (CNN) -- New York is set to become the latest state to open the door for medical marijuana, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo to take executive action to let select hospitals dispense it to select patients, according to two advocates briefed on the plan.
State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, who has been a leading proponent of more comprehensive legislation for medical marijuana in New York, said he learned about the executive action in a conversation Saturday afternoon with members of the governor's staff.
It paves the way for a "limited and cumbersome program," but nonetheless is a step forward on the issue, according to Gottfried.
"I'm thrilled that the governor has taken this action," the assemblyman said. "This is a very key interim step."
News of the governor's initiative was first reported by The New York Times.
Cuomo's office did not respond Saturday to CNN's requests for comment on the matter.
Medical marijuana is hardly unprecedented in the United States. Twenty states and the District of Columbia now allow it in some form -- among them Colorado, where as of January 1 it's legal to sell marijuana to those 21 or older -- according to info compiled by the National Conference of State Legislatures. (In addition, Maryland has a limited program for research.) The momentum has picked up of late, with most of these efforts taking effect over the past decade.
The states where there is medical marijuana include Connecticut, Vermont and New Jersey, each of which border New York. And yet the Empire State has not joined them. Versions of the Compassionate Care Act pushed by Gottfried have passed the state Assembly, only to stall in the Senate.
Cuomo is acting without the legislature's OK, though what he's doing is legal, according to Gottfried, whose district includes much of Midtown Manhattan. He explained that the governor is acting on powers granted through a law passed in 1980 in setting the stage for a highly regulated system that's less liberal than many other medical marijuana setups nationwide.
Here's how it would work, according to Gottfried: Under Cuomo's directive, the state health department would take charge by setting up the guidelines and picking hospitals that would take part. These hospitals would then have panels of people who decide, on a person-by-person basis, which patients qualify for medical marijuana.
It has yet to be determined where the medical marijuana -- or the elements of it that might be dispensed -- will come from, including who might produce it.
Gottfried estimated that tens of thousands of people could get medical marijuana by virtue of this policy change, though he insisted it is no substitute for a more complete, far-reaching program.
"(Cuomo) can take (this step) without the need for further legislation," the Manhattan legislator said. "But to have a truly comprehensive and well-working system will take legislation."
Gabriel Sayegh -- the New York state director for the Drug Policy Alliance, which describes itself as a "national advocacy leader of drug law reform" -- agrees, saying that it too will push for broader medical marijuana laws in the state.
He learned about this latest measure in a call Saturday from the governor's office, saying the proposal originated there and describing it the same basic way as Gottfried.
Even as he pushes for something bigger, Sayegh praised the governor for taking what he called an "exciting" initial step.
"It's tremendous," Sayegh said. "We applaud him coming out on this. It's going to help us build momentum to build a permanent program."

Legalize it. Tax and regulate the hell out of it. Good job CO.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

25% sales tax though?

NO!!!!

Plus 2.9% state tax?

This is unscrupulous taxation. There is NO justification for such exorbitant taxation. NONE. Not even alcohol and cigarettes are that highly taxed.

This "tax the hell out of it" mentality has caught on like a wildfire. And people who aren't even from CO can't wrap their heads around how much tax that is.

:smh:

That's crazy man. I wonder why some have higher tolerances and can take it better than others. The only negative I have is paranoia due to me just not wanting to get arrested. Other than that, I just chill. Same with alcohol. When I get drunk, I just chill.

Tax is 28%?

Damn. I knew they were gonna do numbers but 28% is high. I was expecting more of a bad of cigs in NYC more of price. I'm sure its only because Colorado is the ONLY legal state in the country for the stuff. As more states legalize then Tax will come down.

Mile High city :smokin

I wonder how the shops selling it legally are set up? People can go through a process to get a license and independently own and operate? Or are they gov owned and operated (hope they have better service than the DMV)

I live in CO, and it's both. I've seen a bunch of privately owned dispensaries and some public, know some owners and stuff

There are strict laws and rules to go by. Cameras everywhere, cannabis can only be bought from licensed warehouses. People can grow their own, however they can't sell it dispensaries.

Do they not test for use of weed anymore in the area they are legalized? Like for work or probation I mean.

Can't wait for the first court case "man fired for using weed, man sues work place for discrimination"

I remember watching a documentary in Cali where growers would sell there weed to the dispensaries but only the best growers were allowed and the weed was inspected under magnifying glasses and all.

I think they won't let people in Colorado do this cuz they know everyone would do it for the extra cash and the price would eventually go down. They should do it tho since they're running low on supply.

How is it any different from drinking on the job? I'm sure places will still have their drug test for new hires. Probation is probably the same.

stop it.

talmbout running a damn country. have you seen our defense budget? We don't need to be fighting illegal wars and taking up causes for other countries. How are we running our country well with gross misuse of tax money? If we spent half of what we spend on the defense budget on healthcare and education initiatives then maybe this country wouldn't be in such a ******g rut.

I'm all for a sales tax, anything beyond that is OD. Weed =/= alcohol, porn or tobacco. I don't recognize this so called sin tax. Weed is not a vice. Type of ignorance we need to get rid of. Just because something is pleasurable doesn't mean it's a vice. Are warm showers a vice? Long walks? How about breathing clean air, that a vice too?
excellent point.

Quick question...

What happened to all the cats that got caught up and are in jail for weed?

Also, of you go for a job... And you have a weed charge on your record from prior to legalization, will they shun you for that?

Man... I've never smoked, but it was because I was playing basketball and they randomly drug tested in college...

Also because it was legal...

I might give it a try though... Ois it too late to start at 25-28?

Do what you want to do in life bro

If you're gonna start smoking now make sure you don't get to the point of being a burnout.. that's okay when you're a teenager or early 20s (I was myself for a bit, not gonna lie  ) but in your late 20s you have too much to lose

It's very different. People claim it enhances peoples work. Kinda like how everyone uses those energy drinks.

not a big smoker so please excuse my ignorance

I know there's a tax of some sort...so how much more expensive is it than buying it on the street? how much do you get for your dollar when buying it legally as opposed to buying it before it was legal?

also, I'm assuming it will eventually be legal throughout the whole country. do you guys plan on growing your own or just paying what it costs for whenever you want it?

a gram is normally 20$

an 8th - 50$

qrt - 90$

half - 150

O - 275

My prices I pay for XO

How exactly is wax/dabbin even made?

As a dude in NY their isn't a huge market for it but i've heard nothing but good from it and considering i'm not a guy who needs to smoke several times a day taking a pull and being good for a few hours would do wonders.

:rolleyes

Come on kinfoe... I just asked for a societal perspective.

I can't just ask?
