RIP New York Hip-Hop? (Need Some Feedback)

Knew bout the Get High vid but I dont care to watch videos but the song should be common knowledge. It was on that Deep Purple mixtape which also had Peso & Purple Swag too

all ya ****** that said ASAP was poppin more than French deserve a throwback NY gill across da neck :smh:

Love how dudes are talking about it came straight from the sources mouth, yet you are getting this paraphrased from someone who is talking about an interview that wasn't posted. I remember the Interview he's talking about tho & Yams was speaking on how he structured the image. Ya'll dudes acting like he never listened or ****** with the south at all. Yams constructed the package of ASAP but that doesn't mean that he Gave them everything. This is the same as any artist sitting down and forming their sound & actually being students.

Yet again another attempt from people to discredit any NYC artist .

I thought you could read bruh.

***** actually posted the entire interview. Straight from Yams mouth. You got staunch NYC dudes in here....on the opposite side of you. Just hold the L. Swear, NT can't just say, "my bad"....I thought it was this .

Stop being defensive when it comes to NYC rap. I actually dig the A$AP sht. Wel, at least the old stuff.

That wasn't actually a legit tape tho, it was fan made by some dude overseas. Dude said they told him they appreciated it but Rocky hated some of the songs on there specifically the one with Seth Narley

There's a long *** blog post out there where dude explains how he came across Rocky on the Realniggtumblr. I think Yams had posted Been Around the World in like January but after that he was actually talking to Yams for months early 2011 and he told him the whole plan to reintroduce him via the blog, etc months before

According to him Yams already them at label offices and had turned down a deal from Atlantic before Purple Swag. I think he said he also helped them contact Soufien3000 to get the beat they ended up using for Acid Drip. If I can find it again I'll post it, it was kinda hard to read because I had to translate it to English, it was really interesting tho.

Always knew it was something funny about them ASAP dudes. They was OD on taking the slang/flows/beats from Houston and 3-6. It always looked like they were trying to hard to me.

And can dudes stop with the "Ya'll just discredit NY rappers"

Hov, Nas, Big, Wu are loved by everybody.

It was a French blog who originally posted the tape. Deep Purple definitely had pre Southern influenced Rocky songs on there. I may be in the minority but I actually rocked with his sound during that time.

Steve marketed him to labels as a young rapper with potential from NYC which was a dead market that was wide open. Labels were thirsty for to capitalize on the NYC market but talent was lacking during that time which worked in their favor. All those producer connects especially Clams Casino came from his tumblr presence.

Crazy that duke really isn't here anymore. He was a visionary who didn't receive enough credit. RIP.

What French project is better than Rocky's first tape?

What French album is better than ALLA?

Let's not get carried away. French has cool hooks and was money on those pre-Bad Boy/MMG Harry Fraud tapes but he isn't that crazy. He's okay.

Rocky sold more than French & makes better music so.....

Neither one of 'em are good rappers but French makes better music than Rocky IMO.

Mixtape French is damn near flawless. His only stain on his resume is Excuse My French, which sounded like Diddy was all up in his video during the recording of it.

Man I'm dead-*** disgusted by Rocky coming up the opposite of what i thought  this feels like what Drake fans should feel after lyric templates have been put out

Another case of it's acceptable for every other region, except NYC. most artist out sound night and day from what their initial music sounded like. They are influenced by other things and continue to try **** until they find their own style/lane. Hell Rocky's new album sounds NOTHING like his first project.

I just don't get how somehow whenever NYC is involved suddenly everything becomes blasphemous in hiphop eyes.
