If you think of it, it could work. Not to run and gun, but sorta like Bill Walton was with the Celtics. Shaq could be the 6th man. The Suns could replace Marion with Diaw and Shaq could back up Stat at the C, and also play Stat and Shaq at the same time as well. The Suns are versatile enough, it's simple, when Shaq is in, slow down and run the half court (ie playoffs) and when Shaq is on the bench, they can run all they want. You need to be able to do a little bit of both, there you go. We all know Stat is forever in foul trouble, this would give them a viable back up. And if you thought they had trouble before with Odom and Bynum, add Gasol to the mix and tell me what Phoenix does there? Grant Hill?

I think it could work, as long as it motivates Shaq to go get another ring. They've proven they ain't winnin nothin with this current squad, why not try a new approach?

I said it first ya'll.

If Shaq is motivated, (and I'm sure he will be) this could work out great for the Suns. Somewhere Stern is on his knees praying the Suns vs Lakers in WCF,followed by Lakers vs Celtics in the finals. Go ahead and make the call Stern.

Heat, Hawks to replay end of game, but can new players go?

ATLANTA -- Shaquille O'Neal is leaving some unfinished business behind in Atlanta as he heads to Phoenix.

The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat must replay the final 51.9 seconds of their Dec. 19 game in Atlanta on March 8, but now O'Neal won't be with Miami for the game.

O'Neal was traded to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. The deal sent four-time All-Star Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to Miami, and thus the new question: Will the two new Miami players be eligible for the replay of the end of the Dec. 19 game?

"The league doesn't know. They'll have to make a determination," Hawks general manager Billy Knight said Wednesday night.

The replay is necessary because the Hawks' official scorer ruled incorrectly that O'Neal fouled out of the game.

The Hawks won 117-111 in overtime. Play will start from the time after O'Neal's disputed sixth foul, with the Hawks leading 114-111.

Knight said NBA officials brought up the possibility of an O'Neal trade when they announced last month that the end of the game must be replayed. Knight said he was told be officials last month that a decision would have to be made about the eligibility of any new Miami players if there was a trade.

The Hawks also were fined $50,000, with commissioner David Stern ruling the team was "grossly negligent" in failing to address the mistake.

The protest is the first granted by the NBA since December 1982, when then-NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien upheld a request for a replay by the San Antonio Spurs after their 137-132 double-overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers the previous month.

The Spurs and Lakers finally finished the game in April 1983, with San Antonio winning 117-114.

The more I think about this trade the more I like it.....for the SUNS....and I hate the Suns. I don't see why a healthy, motivated Shaq cant put up closeto 20 and 10 again....I also think he will fit in fine with the Suns...like that article said, they had to conform...the run and gun wasn't gonna bringthem a chip..

man if spurs win the title this year...then they are one of the best teams in history by far.....

never thought i'd ever see Shaq in a Suns uniform. Should be an interesting 2nd half of the season.

Its just funny to me that people are saying if shaq is healthy. When was the last time he was healthy? And everyone is forgetting what Marion was to this teamif they got shaq without trading him i would think it was a good move. But diaw is not Marion, he will not get the points play the D catch the lob and reboundlike him. The heat got over on this one i just wonder what dallas was going to give up, must not have been howard, the jet or harris. Also just like everyonesaid about the lakers new pick up what about chemistry, they just added someone that does not fit at all are you expecting the offense to change in 1/2 theseason? and i heard Dantony has been bumping heads with kerr his philosophy of the run n gun, cant wait to see if he changes his ways.

What the heck is wrong with Phoenix? Old dust shaq is about to retire anyway he's a bum, but Marion is gonna help the heat out a lot though.

This is only going to hurt the Suns even more. Shaq is fat, slow, unmotivated, hungry, and over the hill. How does this fit the Suns uptempo style? Horriblemove by the Bums.

This is obviously a very risky move but the Suns were not going to the win the chip with the team they had and that style of play. They tried it already (yeahi know the injuries and all) but it didn't work. If Shaq can come in and help on the boards and drop 15-20 a night...I don't see why this wouldn'thelp. Obviously his health is a huge factor but this is a go for it all type of move.

I was talking to my homie about this earlier.... they are quite nasty with shaq

I have high doubts about this trade...but I'm not going to count Shaq out until he says, "I am now officially retired from the game ofbasketball."

The Heat is going to get some life back but not enough to get to what they're used to.

great trade for the suns, the only team they couldnt beat was the spurs now that they have shaq the spurs have no way to defend them, shaq will be awake forthe playoffs watch out
