Point guard Stephon Marbury has dropped to 200 pounds in an attempt to get in shape this offseason, but he still appears to be on thin ice, according to New York Post.

The Knicks have sixteen players under contract, which means they must get rid of one player prior to the start of the season.

Marbury is still considered a candidate to be cut at this point, although recently-acquired forward Patrick Ewing Jr. is not a lock to make the team either.

this forum and my cousins that live there makes me think that all ppl from the bay and texas are idiots
Geez, skimming through a post and missing a "to" in the title "Marbury Has Dropped To 200 Pounds" which would make thesentence appear "Marbury Has Dropped 200 Pounds" is a big deal to people? People aren't allowed to make mistakes now? Especially something sosmall such as this?

nYcHipHopHippo, you saying that "all ppl from the bay area and texas are idiots" is ironic.Generalizations will never get you anywhere. Try evaluating yourself first before trying to call out entire regions for being "idiots".

And before this becomes a back and forth argument between you and me, let me say this... If you try to drag this "argument" on, it'll be useless.I've already said what needed to be said.

Monta's ankle will be immobilized for six weeks, followed by at least six weeks of off-court rehab. That rules Ellis out for allof training camp and the preseason and at least the first month of the regular season.
Grizzlies'Wallace: Haddadi Long On Potential
Sep 01, 2008 6:49 PM EST

mem_40.gif
Grizzlesgeneral manager Chris Wallace believes that Iranian center Hamed Haddadi is long on potential, but also realizes that he's not the second coming of HakeemOlajuwon, according to Memphis Commercial Appeal.

However, Wallace doesn't consider Haddadi a project either.

"I don't like to use that term because it suggests that he's not someone who can contribute in the short term,"Wallace said. "And that's not the case. He's going to need some work in certain aspects of his game. But he's 7-2. You can't teach height. He can rebound and block shots, and he can score around the basket with his left hand. He has an outside shooting touch, and he's fared well in (summerleague and Olympic) games."

Haddadi will become the first Iranian to play in the NBA after signing a multiyear contract with the Grizzles last month.

"I'm not going to say we shouldn't sign Hamed because a foreign big man that preceded him didn't work out,"Wallace said. "You can't look at it that way. In basketball, you can never have too many big centers. You need as much depth as you can get. If wedevelop Hamed, he's going to be a real asset for our organization in the future."

"It's great being around the kids and just getting to come back to the states," Howard said. "I just missed it somuch, and you just appreciate life being in China. You miss your friends and your family, going a month-and-a-half not seeing the people I love. I'm justglad to be back in America."

Howard couldn't believe how famous he and his teammates were halfway across the world.

"They treated us like the Beatles over there," he said. "It was ridiculous. Everywhere you went was just a crowd ofpeople. And the people there are so great. They're disciplined, they work really hard, and they love taking pictures. Everybody's got a camera, so allthey did was take a lot of pictures."

Former professional basketball player Jason Caffey shifted $120,000 to his mother after he filed for bankruptcy protection in Mobile a year ago. The transaction was reflected in an amended statement of Caffey's financial affairs that his lawyer submitted after the Press-Register reported that some of the mothers of his children were questioning his assets and debts. Press-Register

Caffey, a former star at Davidson High School in Mobile and the University of Alabama, sought bankruptcy protection in August of last year. He listed $1.9 million in debts against nearly $1.15 million in assets, and said he needed time to renegotiate child support obligations that were set when he was earning millions of dollars during his eight-year NBA career. Press-Register

Caffey has 10 children with eight women, and several of the women have battled with him over unpaid child support. His latest filing shows that he withdrew $120,000 in October from a trust fund set up for the benefit of his two children with a New Orleans-area woman, Nikki Brown. He then deposited the money into the credit union account of his mother, Rose Caffey. Press-Register

Phoenix General Manager Steve Kerr plans to rest Nash more this season, perhaps limiting him to 70 games in 2008-09.

"We'll see how it goes," Nash said upon hearing of Kerr's plan. "Those are great intentions, but is it realistic? We'll see."

But for real, I hope Gustav doesn't cause too much damage and the Gulf can recover.

If Gustav does hit hard, I don't see the Hornets coming to Seattle. They would probably go to KC where it's closer.
