SNOWBOARD SEASON 2009/2010

I went to Donner Monday, it was nice roads were clear, no traffic, just a lot of families and kids around. My girl grabbed me when we were getting off the liftand caused her board to break the strap of my binding

which ended the day early, had to ride down on my butt. Gotsome good runs in though. It was nice and sunny.

went to northstar yesterday and the snow wasn't great. it was dust on crust up there and there were too many people. i guess that's what i get forgoing on christmas/new years week. plus it doesn't help that i got food poisoning from their blackened tri-tip steak (stay away from that plate). justfyi, nothing in the burton progression park (completely empty) and the regular park has a couple of jumps, the fun boxes and rails are set up but it'sevident that there hasn't been much snow up there.

I can't really find a great deal on North Star lift tickets, I might just pick up the Sierra/Northstar double whammy since I can get it for 300, but I don't like the blackout dates. Anyone have suggestions on lift ticket steals?
i would highly suggest getting that double whammy pass if you can get it for $300 (college pass i'm assuming). i was about to get thatyesterday too but yesterday fell on a blackout date so i opted for the 6 pack package instead. if you're going up on saturday, sunday, and half day onmonday then the double whammy will just about pay for itself. if you don't want to go that route then craigslist usually has some good steals on tickets.

here's a site for you northstar patrons.

http://www.snowbomb.com/c...il=DEL4373991B3327F ($57 lift tickets. blackout dates apply)

Just got back from North Lake earlier this evening. It was a great trip! Northstar got a bit of snow on Friday so the snow was pretty good thefollowing Saturday, but the lines were killing me, it was like Disney Land or something. It even took 15 minutes to make the left turn into the resort off HWY267! I wont complain too much though since it was my first day of the season and I'll take what I can get. Rode Sunday too, it was nice and sunny, so thesnow was fast before it got icy later in the afternoon. Around 3:30 on Sunday just above the Comstock Lift I encountered a Wolf on the side of a run! No leash, just free ballin it by the tree line

I carved towards him a little andhe galloped a few steps towards me before I swerved the other way!

Good looks on the Double Whammy Kalan, I think I will get one before the season is up. I bought a 4 pack of lift tickets for $199(I'm 22 so I barely makethe grade for young adult), and I can upgrade to a Double Whammy pass for the difference at any time($100). I also learned that the Double Whammy has blackoutdates for Northstar, but you can just head to Sierra on those blackout dates

I'm really sorry to hear about the food poisoning my friend, that's highly unfortunate. Good thing I got the Bratwurst plate on Saturday, and packedPBB&J sandwiches on Sunday($15 for a burrito at the grill on the top of the mountain!). The food there is lackluster at best, and I'm not reallysurprised

I might try to head up in 2 weeks for a day or two, anyone else planning a trip soon?

Edit:
I almost forgot to tie Nike into my post! Stopped by the Vacaville outlets, which were a miss as they usually are for me
ohwell.gif
I picked up a nice Jordan tee for 17 bucks though, but other than that Nikeand Adidas were booboo...

Hit up Bear Valley today, some what cool drive. Very different from driving 80 for ever!.... Bear Valley, its near Yosemite and about 3.5 hours from SF. Themountain was super clear and only about 300-400 people total today!!! we had free tix from the SFsnowshow, thought we'd check it out. not a bad place toride. Downside of today was it rained/misty all day long, got super cold and all my gear froze! Icy conditions suck balls too.

New setups :
09 CustomX 156 paired with 08 Co2 - All Mountain, greatest board i've ridden so far.
09 Official 156 paired with 07 P1s - Park board with tons of pop. very light too!

Voucher :
Get Northstar/Sierra vouchers @ REI, I believe its $56/$51 (accordingly) which come with food vouchers. These are free! just get to REI before they run out.
REI also has pre-purchase tickets http://www.slidingonthecheap.com/deals/rei.shtml
Costco 2 packs http://www.slidingonthecheap.com/deals/costco.shtml

Enjoy! BOOT STRAP AND RIDE

Sierra was excellent this past Saturday. Very few patches of ice. Even on the Chute. Overall decent riding for early Jan. Crowded as hell though. Weekdays FTW!

I went for the first time Monday to Kirkwood (first time ever). It was pretty nice. I have no idea how to tell if the snow is good or bad. I fell on mybackside a bunch of times. Couldn't turn without falling. Body is sore, but overall a good experience.

Came back from Kirkwood last Friday, 01/09. Conditions were actually pretty nice; just a bit windy though. But, I think this weekend is gonna suck, especiallyfor those that are going for the holiday weekend. With the weather here in Bay feelin' like summer, I think the snows gonna melt away by the time you makethe drive up to Tahoe!

went to sierra last friday and conditions were eh. kinda warm since the sun was out but id rather go to another resort.

Went to Heavenly yesterday.

Way too big for my taste, i lost my cousin in the first 30 minutes, and didnt find him until 3:30.

The snow is starting to suck since there hasnt been any wet weather lately. Once the sun starts to go down, everything turns icy.

That's why I'm biding my time and will be going after the next storm... Can't wait

It's finally snowing again!!! I'm heading up to Northstar on monday for a burnout mission! Lunar New Year FTW!

i went to squaw for the night run on friday, it was real nice. then i went to homewood on saturday, its a cool place, no lines at all, but the lifts are soooslow

I successfully completed the burn out mission to Northstar yesterday, the snow was great. After some decent snowfall on Saturday and Sunday plus a lightdusting on Monday, I finally got to float in some powder

Ikedas in Auburn is the best stop on the way to North Lake. They have an awesome produce market, fresh strawberry rhubarb pies, and grubbin' burgers

i'll be at leaving to Heavenly on Thursday probably boarding on Fri/Sat. I'll update ya'll on how it is

Goin' to Heavenly on Saturday..

Is there a night life out there (Tahoe)? Bars? Clubs? My first time there since I was a kid.

I know there's a club in Harrah's and i think there's a Margaritaville between Harrah's and Harvey's.

You practically take the gondola up to the slopes from a crap table, and the Casinos are open all night... Have fun!

I'm going on a burnout mission to Northstar tomorrow morning, it's been snowing so it should be nice. I'm going to wax my board right now

EDIT:
Got back from the renegade run to Northstar 1/2 hour ago. Traffic was boggin' on the way back, but it was a fun day. Not much powder but some good ridingnonetheless, esp. on the backside
pimp.gif

I traded in my last day pass for the Sierra/Northstar double whammy so I will bounce back up very soon.

Kobe Fan: How'd the surgery and recovery go? When will you be back on the slopes?
SOLED OUT and Alvin: How was Heavenly this past weekend? Good nightlife too?
