Spending the Summer in NYC vol Help?!

So I got the opportunity to work in NYC for the summer and it was a great opportunity that I couldn't pass up. But the problem is I don't know #$%* about NYC, never even visited. My job helped my find an apartment which is on the Upper East Side (where I will also be working).

Does anyone have any advice for someone who has never lived in NYC? And any places to go, things to do, etc?

7th Ave between W 48/49 ST.

They said they'll pay for my subway pass. So I guess I should be pretty happy about that.

that's not the UES. That's midtown. It's not a straight trip from your job to the UES. You might be able to find something in Hell's Kitchen as well

I figured as much. When I go out I won't have a problem dropping money, I just won't be able to go out a whole lot. .
