VENOM Not in the MCU

Entertainment Weekly recently put up a post on Venom, a movie which will be receiving the spotlight at Comic-Con next weekend. In that article, director Ruben Fleischer and star Tom Hardy shed some light on their plans for the symbiote but there was no mention of Spider-Man, a character who is essential to the world of Eddie Brock (his origin story will be unrecognisable without the wall-crawler).

"Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe)."

A Very ‘Spidey’ Comic-Con For Sony

Sony’s Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be swinging into Hall H in a few weeks with a session on Friday, July 20 at 6:15PM.

Extensive footage for both movies was recently shown at CinemaCon back in April. Venom opens on Oct. 5 and Spider-Verse on Dec. 14.

Even though Marvel Studios’ film side is skipping Hall H this year, it would come as no surprise should Spider-Man star Tom Holland make a surprise appearance in San Diego during the Sony panel. Holland recently served as an Avengers: Infinity War panelist at the ACE Comic-Con in Seattle last weekend which was timed to his title reveal on Instagram for the next Marvel/Sony sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home due out a year from now on July 5, 2019.

San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 19-22.

That's why Spider-Man said save it for Comic-Con in the second Into the Spider-Verse trailer.

Honestly JK Simmons did such a great job, they have to try something new if they can't get him back. JB Smoove will be interesting.

It depends on how much they let JB be JB. I'm not a fan of his comedy. And it's more to JJJ than comedy. Bruh was behind a lot of shady ****.

I think JB can pull it off. Like you said, it all depends on how much they let him be JB.

An actor by the name of Numar Acar is playing a character with the name of Dimitri, the name for the Chameleon. Looks like we're getting a S6 buildup.

So far, Scorpion and Vulture returning. Along with Mysterio and this alleged Chameleon. Sounds like we're getting the S6 in a third movie

JB as JJJ please no. Was a fan of the Terry Crews fan casting and even the Ice Cube. After JL flopped off the face of the earth JK Simmons should crawl his traitor *** back over. Truthfully it’d be so great for fans and bring even more appeal to the sequel. Sinister 6 is long overdue but why not the OG Sin 6. Sandman with today’s technology would be OUTRAGEOUS. Chameleon is fun however. Very excited for the MCU to get back to being innovative. Far From Home will def be that spark.

Riz Ahmed is Playing Riot in Sony's Venom Movie
Hmmmm

latest

To think the rumor was there was barely any Hardy as Venom in this. Only in the end. Now we getting multiple knockoff symbiotes from the Venom symbiote rumored.

And yeah Riot looks like Venom with slightly different eyes and no Spidey emblem.

Venom has been flying under the radar thus far, due mostly to a pair of essentially work-in-progress trailers, but, after its SDCC presentation tonight, it looks like the film has finally arrived.

The new extended trailer, which contained a few unfinished VFX shots and is not expected to be released online this weekend, was met with a thunderous response and left the jaws of attendees hanging on the floor. As per multiple accounts, there is plenty of symbiote action throughout the film as Venom (Tom Hardy) engages in brutally vicious fight scenes with other symbiotes, including the now-confirmed Riot (Riz Ahmed). Director Ruben Fleischer also adds that Riot will have the unique ability to jump from host to host, which will keep audiences on their toes as they try to guess who he's hiding within.

Additionally, there were also at least two other symbiote villains, one blue and one yellow. The latter is believed to be Scream. Unfortunately, there was no direct mention of Carnage during the panel, but Fleischer did tease that there may or may not be other villains in the movie that have yet-to-be-revealed.

As for Venom himself, he'll actually be quite massive in size, with some claiming he's at least 10 feet tall, and he'll share plenty of characteristics with his comic counterpart, including stretching out of Eddie's body to speak to him, transforming his fists into giant axes, and ripping heads clean off unsuspecting baddies. He'll also be packing more than a few quality one-liners, including "Eyes. Lungs, pancreas, so many snacks. So little time."

While there have been rumblings that Tom Holland will indeed appear in Venom, neither Fleisher nor Hardy was particularly forthcoming when asked the big Spider-Man question. Fleisher coyly teased, "At some point down the road they will hopefully cross paths," while Hardy was a little more direct with his response, "Go toe to toe with Tom Holland? I'll have a go!"

in-depth footage description:

"Eddie Brock enters a convenience store. He knows the lady here. She says he looks like ****. He's not feeling well. She suggested to him previously that he medidate. At home, he puts a disc in his DVD player and while laying on the floor meditates. Flashes of him running through the woods kick in. He smacks his face on the couch. He pounds pills. He looks unwell and calls someone to say he's feeling very sick. He awakens, startled. Later, he walks through an alley and sees Venom in the reflection of a car window before being flung against a wall.

Riz Ahmed's character rules that human beings are disposable. Man and symbiote combined is the future. He tests one on a man who is bent out of shape violently. Eddie is tests later. As ra result, he brutally beats men in his apartment with Venom's help. His motorcycles is sandwiched by cars but Venom holds them off.

Venom tells Eddie his previous life is over. Eddie doesn't want to just hurt people. Venom emerges and talks to Eddie face to face. After Eddie's body is bent and broken, Venom heals him and stands 10 feet tall. He holds a man up and licks his face.

Ahmed's character is proud of his creation. Action scenes flash by. Eddie starts to come around on the power. His gal (Michelle Williams) seems concerned about that. A woman throws spikes out of her back and into civilians at a market. Venom's arms turn into giant axes and he wipes out a slew of enemies. More action scenes. Venom fights Ahmed's symbiote counterpart. Venom threatens to eat a man's face off of his head who is bothering the woman in the convenience store. When he asks "What the hell are you," half the face disappears and Eddie and Venom say, "We are Venom." Then, he eats his head. Eddie emerges and says goodnight to the woman.
