STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Thoughts on knee sleeves for squatting? I've had patellar tendinitis in both knees from sports in high school, but have built my mobility back to the point I don't feel pain squatting ATG, although I do hear "crunching/popping" squatting (even air squatting).

I am curious about the "rebound" sleeves provide out of the hole on heavy squats though, since I've plateaued lately...

I was always the person to not use sleeves. Tried them once and it felt better. Like the others said, I think it's more to keep your knees warn, but the ones I've got are a real thick neoprene like and it may not "support" a lot, I feel a little more stability. Maybe it's all in my head

Sleeves are a most for squatting in my opinion.

You aren't going to get any real carry over no matter how tight the sleeves are, less than 10-20 pounds for sure, more of it will be placebo. When I was around 260 I would squeeze into medium SBDs

and it actually caused me to squat higher i think because they were so tight.

if you're not competting for anything your health and body is #1 protect your body, lol wear your wraps, guards, cup, sleeves whatever. you not about to do a powerlifting comp that bans that stuff.
I use sleeves, my knees have thanked me for it since i started using them a year ago.
All of this!

I use it all, always protect yourself before you wreck yourself like Mark Bells says.

Soo I've been in the service industry for a while been working at my spot for 6 years. I've noticed that lifting trays over my head has fd up my shoulder. I thought it was something in my workouts but I feel fine on my days off. It only hurts the days I work. Would wearing a shoulder wrap or something similar help me out? Or should I just go to a doctor? Lol

You could do that....whatever you feel is necessary.

They have the tape like stuff....

What are the purpose of knee sleeves? To keep your knees warm? I usually wear pretty slim joggers so my knees are always warm... That good enough?

Here is my Romaleos 3 First Impressions

A lot of this will be comparing it to the Rom 2 and this review is for SQUATS. Im not a powerlifters. Im just a young guy who's main goal is hypertrophy.

Looks:

IMO, they def look better than the Rom 2. Just wish the strap thingy was metal like the Rom 2 rather than plastic.

Size:

I feel like these run a tad bit bigger than the Rom 2 in terms of length... Or it could just be that the flexibility of the toe area makes it feel that way. I'm TTS on Flyknit Racers, Rom 2, Adidas NMD are 8.5. My Rom 3 are 8.5 but I have a lot of room in the toe area. I def could've went .5 down. Some people have said they fit more narrow as well. I personally couldnt tell.

Stability:

For this, I have to give it to the Rom. 2. Since the Rom 2 are a bit higher cut, my ankles feel a bit more secured. In addition, the Rom 2 are A LOT heavier than the Rom 3 and the toe box is not too flexible... I feel like due to the heavy weight of the Rom 2, your feet feels more planted to the ground.

The Rom 3 is made from Flywire so its pretty light. The benefit to this though is that its MUCH easier to get your feet positioned after you unrack the weight and get set up for your squat. Also, I feel like the heel is bit shorter than the Rom 2 but I believe they're the same measurement...(?)

VERDICT:

Cant say these are better than the Rom 2 nor are they worse. But the Rom 2 imo are in no way inferior to the Rom 3 when it comes to a hypertrophy-esque squatting sessions. When it comes to powerlifting, OLY lifts, etc I cant give my opinion on it. The light weight on the Rom 3 are both a plus and a minus to me.

If you see the reviews on Roguefitness, some people do not like the Rom 3 at all. For basic hypertrophy squatting, the Rom 3 will do just fine overall. You can read the reviews here:

I actually eat vegan (technically not a vegan, though) so I couldn't even bother with that burger. Still, I sometimes look at food porn to challenge myself and some of these things look crazy.

Deep fried butter on a stick? KFC Double Down? Mozzarella sticks in sandwiches? Hardboiled eggs in burgers? Son...

I remember seeing this guy in a video batter up a Filet-O-Fish sandwich, deep fry it, then repeat six more times so it looked like a giant blob of batter. I'd probably feel sick after eating something like that.

Hmmm where do I get this? I don't feel it's too serious for a doctor but it is bothering me a bit.

I think my gf ordered off Amazon. I'm not entirely sure, sorry. That Crossfit site, or Rogue Or whatever.

Honestly, I was just watching random videos late October/early November of 2015 and decided to try it out. Prior, I would just lift and eat whatever I wanted. I gradually finished the animal product food at my place, and just didn't buy any more when I did the next grocery run and I've been rocking with it for roughly a year and a half. I lost a lot of weight, but wasn't actually"dieting" for the first little while so my strength went down bad. You can still eat trash with a vegan diet.

I don't consider myself a vegan, though. I still rock leather bands on watches, leather boots etc. Even if I was, I refuse to be one of those weirdos who take it to the extreme and harass people with signs for wearing fur, tell people that they're bad because they eat meat or something like that. I can sit with people eating a big, greasy, Pizza Hut "meatlovers" right next to me and I'm totally cool.

I see. I mean, I agree there are instances where animals could be treated better, but I love meat man. I wouldn't push my views on someone, unless they asked and I would explain my point. That's just me.

Hahaha

I was walking around and was like "Oh fried pickles"...."oh fried olives"....."oh fried potatoes"..."oh cheese curds"....."ohhh unlimited milk, too bad it's 1% (wishing it was whole milk).

That's cool, too. I was on that same tip: chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops, lobster? I was all for that and I'll respect anyone's choices to eat those if they respect mine.

And, in all honesty, a lot of vegan imitation foods that I've tried simply don't match up in taste imo. Some are okay, while others aren't. For instance, vegetarian ground beef (depending on the brand) is actually okay but I still don't think it matches up well with the real thing in terms of taste. Still, I don't mind it and it gets the job done.

That, and I think reaching daily goals for protein and caloric intake requires more food with a vegan diet and probably not as tasty (some variation or form of vegetables, quinoa, nuts, protein bars/shakes vs meat, milk, eggs etc.).
