STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Man I remember I went to a few classes at a more competition focused school. Their warmups were way longer and more intense than what I was used to.. that was the only time I threw up at bjj, mountain climbers got me :lol:

Yea thats why I really like my tues thurs class aside from the instructor being really good he skips all that aside from a basic fundamental warm up we skip all the other drills and instead he starts class with like 5 to 6 timed light roll sessions before fundamental drills. I feel less guilty about skipping the end of class roll sessions which I did this week.

20 min of running, crawling, and jumping jacks is kind of a waste of time but some of these dudes are out of shape. :lol:

some random notes from this week in gym tings:

i have a membership @ 24hr so they’re everywhere around me, so i pull up to a few different locations and it’s funny seeing other people from one gym at other gyms, if that makes sense

it’s wild how dirty folk are at these public gyms, no consideration/home training these days 😷🤢🤣🤣🤣

my grip was failing me all week on deadlifts, weirdly because it’s not as if i’ve been doing more volume to tax my grip but my callouses were killing me and i was struggling getting good grip (a certified fit chick was in the rack opposite of me & was 👀 from the mirror & it had the opposite of ‘baddie effect’ and routine 510 i had on the bar midas whale have been 10000 because i couldn’t get it up like the main character in a cialis ad 😮‍💨😂)

starting to see some gains from benching more, not confident enough to increase my 1 rep max but i did get 240 for 3 reps and 225 is less intimidating these days

backflips getting cleaner, no fails this week 😂

I can’t touch rim or front or back flip outside of a trampoline but 225 is light weight and I can always get 510 up, my #POWDA midas well be Viagra (and I weigh less than you do).

definitely more biased to training athletic/explosive than pure strength or even aesthetics/hypertrophy, running, jumping, hooping, & backflips is the whole point for me, lifting is the side quest. altho i definitely lift more than i do anything else currently; approach lifting seriously in order to get as much as possible from the effort put in, given that it isn’t strictly a goal to ‘just’ be strong and i’m fairly content trading faster progression for slower

Man my weight fluctuates like crazy

Was 228 in the summer

Currently 250+

I don’t mind it too too much tho, gonna shred again in a month or so

how often do you weigh yourself? i used to check before & after going to/getting back from the gym but now i only really step on the scale if i notice my composition changing or if clothes are fitting looser/tighter

If I was your size (⏸️) I'd be benching and pulling like 1,170 pounds combined on the platform. I'd be willing to bet the reason your numbers ain't higher is because you outchea doing too much.


But again, I'm just a random dude on the internet and you'vealready said your goals ain't to be lifting the whole gym and/or being a master of all tank tops so, do you, breh.

I'm trying to balance out both. while strength training is nice in my line of work, I have to cut down since my endurance is suffering quite a lot especially in my current position as an overworked porter. I'm quiting that position and would file my resignation tonight. I'll be doing more cardio than my weights. also, I'm running out of uniforms to wear as I don't want to spend on new uniforms 2 sizes up.

😮‍💨 i’m offended by that comparison 🤣🤣🤣, i’m not complaining about being perpetually achy or why i’m not gaining/maintaining muscle, or doing conflicting training 😂

i pretty much think i’m where i’m supposed to be a few years into lifting considering i’m not actually on any programming & don’t really push to train to failure, and don’t do much of any accessory stuff, i’m just trying to keep some athleticism, maybe get some legit dunks in 😮‍💨

I have put a lot of miles on my bicycle recently.

Riding outside in the fresh air really opens up my lungs.

***sidenote

The city of San Antonio is dirty. When I ride my bike in the street along the curb with my head down... all I see are plastic cups, junk food wrappers, and all other types of trash. I have not really "wandered" out of my neighborhood since the pandemic. It seems like certain neighborhoods are clean... but the path to and from them seem like dumping grounds. What I saw made me feel bad for ever littering. We gotta do better.
