STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

If any of you guys have a spin class at your gym i suggest you do it if you are looking to do some cardio its a great workout.

saw some guy at the gym with a Pool noodle on the Squat rack bar for cushion. he had the noodle cut shorter obviously. GENIUS!

Read somewhere that using padding (i.e foam) while squatting throws off your center of gravity because the bar is higher up and will cause you to lean forward. Any truth to this?

When I first started squating consistently I used a pad (heck used a smith machine too) and tweaked my back twice. Now I don't use a pad or anything I might use one when I get to like 400lbs or something but I'm doing like 340 no prob

Its called the pussie pad for a reason. If I could I would squat with out a shirt on, I love the feel of the bar, I am one with it.

Back in the game. Grabbed 2 tubs protein powder and renewed my gym membership. I weighed myself this morning and was 149.7. That was the last straw.

Btw, i havent lifted since July and for anyone who lifted for awhile but took time off, did you notice a change in your social life? i feel much more talkative and just..free when i do worry so much about my body and lifting. Only thing I worry will return once I start lifting again.

Got no issues with pads, but they feel awkward because I've been squatting for so long without it so I don't use them.

i think I wrote this before, but anyone in her ever get their knee messed up?

I got an MCL sprain back in May (3d degree sprain), then re-aggravated it back in June. Didn't go to the doctor til like July.

Got diagnosed with the sprain and possible ACL tear/meniscus damage.

Haven't had time to go back in and get an MRI (but I should).

Anyway, since then i can mostly do everything as normal, but cannot extend all the way or flex all the way on that knee out of hesitance/tightness.

Anyone else have a similar thing happen and how long did y'all go before it got better or required surgery?

As far as training, have been doing zercher squats, which have actually been pretty fun, and doing adductor/abductor, calf raises, etc. Basically everything like normal but avoiding heavy weight.

If your counting counting protein carbs and fat your doing iffym, all of these clean eating hippies are following IIFYM and bashing it at the same time.

How about no.  Tracking your macros is not IIFYM.  If it fits your macros is just that, if it fits your macros...  You can eat honey buns, pizza, ice cream, whatever as long as it fits your macros.  Completely different from someone eating clean while tracking macros to make sure that he is getting enough PCF.

There is a reason why no top pros use IIFYM.  If it fits your pop tarts not even once.

Do you think someone doing IIFYM isn't eating what people say "clean" is 80% or more of the time? No one can hit their macros eating junk all day every day but IIFYM lets you fit foods you love in with your majority "clean" diet. IIFYM gets such a bad rep because folks thinks it's poptarts, pizza and junk hitting your macros when it really isn't.

Some people tear their ACL and never get surgery, but I say find some time and get the MRI man, biggest mistake I ever made was not insisting that the doctor send me to get one. Originally tore my ACL in June 2011. Doctor who I'd been going to since I was little said it was most likely a sprain. I took a while off from soccer and felt "okay" Ended up playing an entire match on the torn ACL just fine until the end of the game when I tweaked it. Ended up getting an MRI in December of 2011 which showed a torn ACL. Got surgery in January 2012 so basically I was living my normal life (working, working out, etc) with a torn ACL for about 6 months before I went under the knife. If you're in Northern California go to Fremont and see Dr. Arthur Ting, he's good.

man, I posted about me having knee pains so I'm in the same boat--- I hate to do it but I gotta take this week off indefinitely. No leg work, no bike riding, no bootcamps :( I'll just do abs and arms,

Anybody here do or have done crossfit? If so, what did you think of it. Any pros? Cons? I'm thinking about starting it when my short session class ends since I'm gonna have the whole afternoon free.
