I agree with you 8, I am willing to pay a lot for some of these pairs.  Of course the AF1 is going no where, but the market is pretty dead.
Proof to your proof, with all the hype of those jewels on ebay last year.. no pair ever exceeded 250 shipped.. most ended in the 100s.  The first pair ended for 60 + shipping.  I won two pairs.

Which proves what I said, they are worth what the buyer is willing to pay.  He had a lot of random sizes, if I had known those 11.0s were just going to disappear or if he had others in my size, I would have been willing to pay for them.  And if I could have got any for under 250, that would be even better.  I don't really see the market as dead, but the reseller hype has been eliminated.  You used to be able to pick old AF1s up for cheap, then came the boom and price hike and like all things, the market corrected itself.  Pic... ... ...

For me AF1s fell off like 04/ 05ish. The guys at my high school stopped wearing them like 07. I still had my black/var red/ white midsole (04) in 2010, and killed that pair almost everyday senior year. For me AF1s fell off popularity wise in 07 as I said, but imo the cws stopped around 05ish. So in your (those that think AF1s died) opinion, when did AF1s fall off for you and if so how did they fall off? For me it was quality and cws.

I would take the simple cws from the 90s anyday. As OGfiend was telling me, the quality and materials were unbeatable. He has one of the sickest AF1 collections imo, but after looking in this thread, I see that Pearson has a solid collection as well. Keep it coming guys.

^Good post elcerrito, don't know if I've seen you in here before.. and that posts tells what I was talking about earlier.  The teen fads come and go but AF1s will always be here.  When I think of what a sneaker should look like, I think of AF1s.  They are the perfect shoe.  Kids like elcerrito weren't even born (or even close to being born when AF1s came out).  The BIGGEST problem is the quality!  Nike finally listened and got back to basic colorways and then keeps release the garbage pleather.  But I won't lie, I have about a dozen post 2006 pairs in my collection.  And even with the shocking turn AF1s took in 2007, they actually put some quality into some of them.  But now it is just turn and burn AF1s on the market.  Couple examples of newer AF1s I broke down and bought...

The shape isn't like older AF1s and they are a little heavier... but these are just a couple examples that Nike can rarely make nice quality AF1s... in the case of these 3, they actually have better leather than most 04-06 stuff.

, team won't make it to 100 pages this time.  If a mink coat pops up, I'm outta here.

EDIT:

Newer AF1 High doesn't look bad.

It's been a while since I popped in here and all I'm going to say on the matter on hand, a lot of the old heads are elitist when new heads pop in & start buying stuff that are from the "golden era". They feel like young guns don't deserve pairs since they just got in but it's not the young guns fault they went out and seeked those pairs. They put in their work for them. Its been proven time and time again but that's how it is with everything. When you see a new kid on the block taking your shine away you tend to hate. Some of the old heads don't and welcome the new young guns but other throw the salt like it was rice at a wedding.

I started selling stuff off for personal reason. I prefer to wear my shoes and shoes I knew I wouldnt wear, I let go. Then also came to when I guess I "grew up" and decided to sell to do things outta the "shoe game".

With that said, even though I been there 2473428274 times but Im going for a whole week and I dont care what anyone else says.... I'M GOING TO DISNEY WOOOOORRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD!!!!

Thanks man (you're right I was born in 1991, but I can still appreciate AF1s (as long as I know my stuff on shoes thats all that matters, check out JFK (Just for Kicks, 2006 documentary) and Bobbito's "Where'd You Get Those" if you haven't already), OGfiend was telling me about the quality and I agree with him. I haven't bought a pair since my black/var red/ white midsoles in 04. I feel like Nike sort of released too many colors and oversaturated the market. I love AF1s, but the new stuff just isn't doing it for me. So in your opinion you guys mainly think it was the quality that killed forces? What year as well, did they die for you?

That 90s stuff really can't be beat. Those highs (on this page) are all right, we'll see on those. I haven't been on this thread before, but just had to post up those vids and that archive to people who would really appreciate it. Thanks again. Relax Stuntman Mike.

Hey Rob, great post
It is true that new people come around and the older cats feel threatened in some cases.

But as my man MFPearson once said

"this team needs to recruit and expand, everyone convince that one guy you know that has a great collection but has never been on niketalk before to get on here and contribute, there are ways to keep this thread from becoming stale - we just haven't thought of any good ones yet"

Lol I'll quote this kid all day.  Its hard to find some good ones amongst all the negativity though.

He really just attacked me because I went to him twice trying to get his goldenrod jewels.  The first time I offered ~$450 for them and the second offer was $650.  As a result of him wanting more than that and politely saying no thank you, I "rubbed him the wrong way".

I hope he responds.

by the way, I know my place around here and a few can tell you (alex, tyler, kev) that I go to them for advice and information on the regular.

Exactly, and I'm very glad it corrected itself. Who remembers the canvas craze of '08 (or was it '07)? It seems like just after we started this thread prices sorta spiked actually. I remember the first  pair I posted in the Post Your Air Force 1s thread I bought for really cheap, red canvas lows vnds for $35 shipped....about a month later I wanted to double up and pairs were fetching up to $150 easily.

On a side note...I had no idea I was this popular
