jibby: canon 50m f1.8, was only $90 bucks new! way sharper than my kit lens.

adobo - thanks, good to know. seems to take some quality pics!  and pardon my lack of knowledge but that is a fixed focal length lens? so far I'm not impressed with my kit lens but then again I really don't know what the F I'm doing!

I got lucky, thanks to a HUGE assist from Joeysole. Dude is the reason I was able to obtain a pair. Shout to Joey, 'ppreciate it broham, you good peoples.

all good homie, don't sweat it. i'm a newbie too, still learning how to do this stuff. but to answer your questn, yes it's a fixed focal length lens. i've seen people call them 'prime' lenses too.

Warren - that's a really nice pick up and you can't beat the price. This lens should be the first lens upgrade for anyone with a Canon dslr.
Primes ftw! They are ususally sharper due to less mechanics and parts...just straight Glass. I got my 85mm about a month ago and it's stays on my 40D 80% of the time. Now shoot Manual!!!!
