The Spurs are still built around Tim Duncan.
Grizzlies' Tony Allen Shares His Secrets to Being the NBA's Premier Star Stopper
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ecrets-to-being-the-nbas-premier-star-stopper
They want to get him involved in every possession while he is on the floor....Posting, screening, passing
They don't go into games saying hey Tony and Manu do work and if thats not open pass it to Tim, its actually quite the opposite. Tim is involved every play, Tony isnt
You have the watch the Spurs enough to tell that they aren't using Duncan as a third option.
Yeah they would become a non factor in the west. That's what I was saying.Don't be confused, Tim Duncan is still ultimatley the best player, but on offense is still Tony/Manu.
must admit, i dont like lebron, but i respect his game. he has done exactly what he should and has improved every summer. Hes a legit 3pt shooting threat now. Leaving him open at the 3 isnt smart anymore. The last thing he could work on now would be handles. But hes not that type of player to begin with, he relies on strength and power so im not sure i can hold his lack of handles against him.Ad is nice but how much better are we expecting him to get? Seems like we see a young cat with potential and expect them to improve by leaps and bounds when the truth is they are likely already close to full capacity. Lebron is a very rare example of a guy who just steadily improved in all facets of the game
Kyrie vs CP3 tonight. This thread gonna be crazy..
pau was pretty much the same player but he took his game to a whole nother level when he starting playing alongside kobeAd is nice but how much better are we expecting him to get? Clippers vs Cavs tonight glitzy
Didn't realize we had the Cavs and Raps back-to-back. That's rough, but gotta get at least one. If we can't win both and I have to pick, I'd prefer winning the game tonight.
Past 4 Finals participants: PIP=Points in paintThere turnover problems are a complete reasonable reason for thinking they might be in for trouble against the right matchup
But.
The perimeter oriented stuff is nonsense, Duncan was the third option the spurs offense was built around surrounding Manu and Tony with 3 shooters and running spread pick and roll.
The gsw offense in terms of shot distribution is not disimilar from Miami, the Mavs, and the Spurs, the 3 past championship winners.
This all I was referring to with my post. He literally IS the defense. His impact and importance on that side of the floor is so great in comparison to what Tony and Manu do separately (and maybe as a whole) that its still his team for me.the defense is, the offense isn't.The Spurs are still built around Tim Duncan.

They are Manu and Tony make all the decisions. Manu said so himself during the finals. He said something along the lines of credit tim for allowing me and tony to take over the offense.
They transitioned from post heavy attack with cutters running off tim, to a spread pick and roll offense with the PG (Manu/Tony sometimes patty mills) making all the decisions. The on off stats bear this out, the offense gets way worse when manu or tony sit, than it does when duncan sits.

Wish there was a way they can both lose lol
