normally i agree with you, but im not sure about that commentBo Ryan will never beat teams great teams playing the way he does,
this year may be his best shot because of unusual high level of talent that Wisconsin has but even the I doubt.
He's too conservative to beat big time schools with more talent.
most of the ranked teams they play have more talent, its been that way since hes been here
his regular season record against the top 25 is 50-46 at Wisconsin in 13 seasons
thats pretty good considering the talent he works with in any given year...and he plays a brutal non-conference schedule almost ever year, they actually go out and play people unlike most bigger schools
Duke, Arizona, Michigan State, Florida etc are all teams he's beaten
i never understood why people say hes too conservative of a coach..he can only work with what hes got, if he played an uptempo style theres not a chance in hell they finish in the Top 4 in the Big Ten and play in the NCAA tournament each of his 13 seasons..but they have..its not being conservative so much as playing to his team's strengths and why he stresses fundamentals
now this year he finally has a team with a little more skill and guess what, hes letting them play...they push the ball, take open shots early in the shot clock, score in transition, get to the foul line...and as a result scoring is higher than in any other season under him
the only knock against Bo is his record in the NCAA tournament, and for that i have no argument..but no team has won a chip (except '02 Terps) without a McDonalds All-American since that game started..not too many of those suiting up for Wisconsin...Brian Butch and Sam Okey are the only ones that even come to mind...i guarantee if he had elite level talent, tournament success would be far greater
