The College Basketball Post

Not at all, I really do believe y'all are going to win this year, no troll.

If I was trolling I would have put Tyler Thornton as POY

 @ y'all being angry that a squad I'm picking that's ranked no. 4 in the preseason to win it all...at the end of the day, I may hate K but he's prolly the best CBB coach ever. Y'all are stacked and I just trust the balance of vets/young guys you have. Kentucky is prolly the other team that's in your league imo, I just don't trust them after last year enough and am not particularly big on the Harrison's either.

Seeing a lot of Okafor/Jones to Kansas predictions.

Also, Reid Travis announcing. Is he still yours? Evan Daniels saying that he's down to Stanford and Minny.

Coach K, best CBB HC, ever?

Depends on what your criteria consists of. I think he lacks the ability to develop players to their utmost potential and sometimes stunts their growth. Yet he has the insane ability of getting the absolute most out of his TEAM and fitting average players into a system and watching them flourish.

One thing you can't deny is that he's built Duke basketball into a brand, only seen done by himself, Dean, and Wooden. He's also built himself into a brand as well that will exist long after he's retired, which I don't think too many coaches will be able to do.

Your first point, Austin Rivers prime example.

Wooden and Dean Smith for me.

Is Coach K the best active HC? Pitino, Jimmy B., Izzo.

Some might add Self, Cal, Donovan.

Non duke sources saying duke is out on Travis. Duke people saying still in it and that it may not be Reid doesn't want to end up at Duke but if he believes he's good enough for Duke(K challenging him)

Nothing has changed about my thinking with the duo

Austin Rivers sucks that isn't Coach K's fault...

If anything he should thank K for semi-letting him shine and being a lottery pick cause he has flat-out gotten exposed.

WorldBee said it a couple posts above.

Not active, all-time. I just wanted to discuss it.

I can see the all-time discussion... But the active aspect I'm a little shocked at.

Don't get me wrong I love Pitino, Izzo, & Self (I Like Cal) but you would feel comfortable saying that they're better than K?

Serious question.

Let's get Calhoun out of the way since he's no longer active.

I said no to Self and Cal.

Boeheim is close in career wins. Consistency and longevity with the same program. I suppose only one NC is the knock.

Pitino is the only HC to lead 3 different programs to the Final Four if you don't include Cal.

Final Four in four separate decades along with Coach K, Dean Smith, Jimmy B.

So your basis for Pitino & Roy (even though he isn't have the coach K is which is sad) is what he's done at the various different places he's been? Izzo his awards, distance in the tourney & coaching tree...

I can see/respect that they were able to build/rebuild at different locations, more so Ricky bc UNC recruits itself.

My counter is exactly what you mentioned about Jimmy, the longevity & consistency along with all the national & conference chips both regular and tourney. Not to mention like Clark said K created Rome, he BUILT Duke into the national name/powerhouse/brand that it is. No other active coach besides Jimmy B can say that and even then as you you said, his accomplishments pale in comparison.

I won't mention personal accolades but I will say K's coaching tree is pretty damn impressive if you look at it. Pitino's coaching tree is STUPID honestly. :wow: :smh:

FTR, I only mentioned Roy to highlight two HC's have accomplished that feat. Not to say he belongs with Pitino, Jimmy B., Coach K, Izzo. Because I don't have Roy over any of those four.
