The Combat Jack Show Thread

I don't think that at all. Big Boi was better than Andre on the 1st 2 albums. Hov rapped like he was just mainly picking beats until MCHG while OutKast sounded like the were from scratch on top of adding bars, hooks, and melodies. The artistry is just different, and it isn't as easy as you're trying to make it look.

If you’re gonna put him in the top 5, he HAS to have solo albums. Y’all just giving him a pass because you like him.

Yeah, creating a solo album is a different monster

Busta talked about how much harder and different it is.

That's why I don't think Jada is close to top 5. You can't be the best NBA player without championships and MVP's. He has no classic albums. You're Patrick Ewing, not that there's anything with that, but Pat isn't going to be put above Hakeem, Kareem and Shaq.

Leaders weren't a weak group. Just like Onyx and Goodie Mobb weren't.

Some people just have star qualities and stand out above the rest. Like Jada. Sometimes it's not even talent and them being better. Outkast was like Tribe, where each had their fans and they had a yin and yang that balanced the other out.

Charlie Brown was a good rapper, Dinco was wack. Big DS and Sonny Seeza were ehhhh, but Fredro was cool.

Busta said it himself after his verse on Scenario Charlie Brown got jealous as hell. Busta was the obvious standout in that group. He wasn't wack but he wasn't a star.

Because Busta stood out. He stood out over everyone, and Hood on the remix. Charlie Brown wasn't wack and thought he was going to be the star. Busta also had the voice and flow. He just had the package.

He has a solo album, it just isn't a rap one. The Love Below is more influential than anything Hov has and likely will ever put out. There's elements of that album everywhere, and more ppl try to rap like 3k & grab for abstract OutKast sounding ****.

What did he influence on The Love Below?

What was original about it?

From Ari Lenox to Tyler The creator….and everything else in between.

3K is a lil bit overrated tho. But as y’all said, it ain’t like he’s not deserving. And can hang with the best of them.

Y'all know he was doing other artist, right?

Yes. Artist that influenced him. And thru him….he influenced others. That’s how it goes.

3K pushed some boundaries for sound expression in rap, by introducing other influences/styles and approach.

What?

So copying what others did before him like Sly Stone, Prince, D'Angelo....means you're pushing boundaries?

Y'all want a cookie for not being knowledgeable and being naive and ignorant. Because dumb *** young people have no knowledge or music prior to their birth?

Andre wouldn't pat himself on the back the way some of you do.

When The Love Below it was a obvious Prince, funk, Jazz influenced album. No he didn't make something that has never ever been done but for a RAPPER in 2003 that album definitely had a big influence on people after him.

Mike influenced all of music. Mike was influenced by James Brown. This **** can go on and on.

You can't say this sir, not you wavy, not you.

Sounds like he got an idea from idea and worked into his on thing. You know how art works? You gonna tell me Prince is a complete ripoff of Parliament & Funkadelic next? ****, throw sampling out the window since it's "copying" according to you the biggest ****ing JAY-Z fan on this site. Really idky you're trying trying to die on this stupid *** hill, but okay.

You typed all of that bull**** in other words to say, Andre didn't invent or start ****

Yeah that’s wild. Crazy to think that incident went down as long ago as it did and dude been sitting as long as he has.

We been saying it for years that Tax is likely going for that long sit down.

Still wondering what’s gonna go down with Troy Ave also.

I mean the same can be said for Sly Stone, Prince etc etc.... they too had predecessors that they took from, were influenced by & then through some of their own sauce on to create their sound. I don't think anyone is saying he "invented" that sound he helped continue to innovate it
