The Combat Jack Show Thread

Listen to the 32 minute mark. He talks about that with Gucci too.

Nah. Those are unrelated incidents in terms of just song crafting.

Zaytoven is the one who told Gucci to rap. He said Gucci initially bought his nephew (Lil Buddy) to the studio and Gucci was writing for his nephew. But Zay heard Gucci coaching his nephew the lyrics and said hold up, maybe he (Gucci) should rap.

He basically was sold on Gucci from the jump.

Dis _ feeling like Snoop right now

Bruh, ZAY was taking Future’s verses off of songs. And Zay has definitely worked with some terrible rappers. We all can bare witness.

That was shocking to me. I can’t even lie. You could’ve never told me in a million years that Zaytoven of all people, didn’t really see “it” with Future earlier on

With Ross I thought it was flow wise more than anything.

He sounded 90's when he first dropped.

These skit dudes have limited popularity.

I think it's a niche fanbase in the first place, because it's so many people doing and diluting it. It's not like the vine days.

most of em use it as a springboard to stand up comedy

I was really just showcasing this one person cause I can see him making moves like desi and rdc

cats making major money off of it

I know alotta cats deem it corny but a lot of em really eating

but of course it’s way more who arent

Bro, what he is saying makes sense. Pre dirty sprite, nobody was really rocking with Future. It took off, Future got better, and Zay and him ran with it. You can look in the Future thread for this sentiment.

Racks blew future up. I thought it was all YC. And I was living in Atlanta at the time :lol

It makes sense what Zay is saying. Future been atriums since the early 00s. Rocko been shopping artist since the 90s.

I wrote buddy off when that “****” song dropped…. He ain’t get play again until “News or something”. I was cool off dude for a good 2 years

Those girls on the pod yesterday have some awful voices. I had to stop listening.

I’m from Houston so I’m used to the sound

some hood chicks sound like that

or chicks that’s just overly loud

they actually cool tho, I prefer them on the 85 south show tho

everybody there was talking over them which is why I didn’t enjoy that ep much

I don’t get how this Deion coaching thing got ppl so riled up  …Folks trying to spin something simple into a whole bunch of different arguments :smh:

Then we got the ones acting like yo the only or 1st black coach they ever seen, it’s still great but not that special in 2023.

Bruh.. those SAME people who criticize Deion, don’t even hold their family and friends to the same standards

They patnas kids, relatives children or others, I bet money the majority of them are applying at white institutions for higher education.

Their kids, and others are probably in private schools and charter schools as well On some I REFUSE to put my child in public school. It’s nasty.

Some black folks are just as bougie and upitty and look down upon HBCUs.

That’s why I respect what Floyd said right here.

When you realize it's about Deion as it always has been and not about us, you won't be disappointed or surprised. He comes from TD Jakes. He's going to sell that moment.

You're going to get the God brought me here talk.

People need to stop making it more than it is.

Yea Prime leaned into the attention as always but yo never said he was the savior of HBCU sports, it was other ppl that made him out to be that…He started coaching a while ago with sketchy prep schools and jumped at the 1st opportunity on the college level with happened to be at Jackson st and that was a mutually beneficial situation

The Colorado folks gon be mad at him next once he has a good season and moves to the 1st legit Power conference school that gives him a chance :lol

College coaches move to other programs all the time. Lane Kiffin gave a verbal agreement to one school then went to another like a week later.

Pete ran outta USC as soon those sanctions came down. Way more examples.

I don’t blame Deion…but let’s be real here. Him and only him, are UNIQUELY in the position to affect change.

The #1 recruit (a generational talent) going to Jackson State was HUGE. What Deion was able to accomplish there in a short time was incredible. And you know damn well it was a threat to power 6, FCS/D1 etc etc.

So like they always do In America, they lure you in with the structure and capital they have set up. Makes it easier for you, while they are the ones that truly reap the financial benefits. The money that has been made in Colorado in 3 weeks is insane

Can’t fault him, because we get up and do what he does as well. It just seems like Deion had all the tools (idk if he still crazy rich; but we know he been getting a bag for our entire lifetime & he’s an icon and arguably the greatest to ever play his sport) to try to affect real change in HBCU/Sports over a longer period of time. But it may not be him. He may be the spark or inspiration.

Charleston white says some wild **** in this interview, but the through-line is true.

I get the sentiment, folks luv the brighter lights and wanna show up on the bigger stage at the white school…But that’s not on Prime or a reason to say F him and his kids, ppl just ain’t do the background on his coaching mission that’s why they mad

And can’t take Those celebs seriously, they gon Always do what they do which is chase the most attention possible n that’s going to Colorado now

Yeah, I mean obviously what Charleston said there, was out of line and extreme. But if you listen to the interview, he really talking about change and how it could’ve been affected. And even acknowledges how we all sell out in a way, on a daily basis. So this is not about moral high ground etc…

But Deion for real had the ball in his hands to do something even greater than he’s done already. And who better equipped, than a ***** that’s been HIM. And blazed paths from the jump.

This breakdown solid too.

I get Deion, and what he doing. Just would’ve liked to see him stick it out at JSU for a longer term, and really see the program start to change/perception etc. Cuz if you build it, they’ll come. And he’s evidence of that.

Colorado/NCAA pulled a power move. Keep picking off the top talents (black players).

It’s really crazy when you start thinking about how schools like Morgan, Texas Western etc…were dominating the PWI’s in the 60s & 70s

Then integration and look now. There is a scene in the Pistol Pete movie (FIRE btw, although whitewashed), where Press Maravich comes to the conclusion after going to a black school across the tracks (and they dunking and 360ing and all that )…that if they’re going to compete in the future, they have to integrate. Not out of any love…but to keep his job.

1:03:00 minute mark:

The basketball scenes in this movie are fire btw.
