The Combat Jack Show Thread

It's been a year and a half. I forgot if it was two years or three.

This was also interesting. Amy Shumer got over a mil for only 8 episodes and wasn't even that popular.

Bro before this podcast deal Amy Schumer did a world comedy tour and then got $13 million from Netflix for a one hour comedy special episode

She was/is popular as hell

What I said had nothing to do with her popularity. I just didn't know she got over a mil for a 8 episodes. Then the joint wasn't even that popular and her success didn't translate.

Joe talked about how they had her beside him, because they would hopping his fans would listen to hers.

I was saying her getting over a mil for 8 episodes makes 100% sense. She’s probably the most popular female comedian not named Ellen.

Its interesting that her fans didn’t get into the podcast format tho

edit: why would they think the people that listen to Buddens **** would wanna hear Amy Schumer  :smh:

I was wondering why this thread had so many pages.

I'm kind of rocking with Mal on this one, because i'm assuming when he's talking "hurt" he's viewing it in an extreme version. Like your life is messed up, you ain't eating, you in a real depression type **** .

Everyone doesn't place that type of emphasis on being hurt, you could be dissapointed by someone, feel betrayed by someone etc etc & not reach that level of hurt.

And i 1000% agree with him on not being "hurt" by a woman your not in a relationship with, Hell that's the reason i've been pissed with chicks in the past because you tell them the situation from the jump.... and they still get emotionally attached.

Every man knows what hurt is. It don't have to be your life is messed up. It's hurt. A relationship that fell apart and you start going through it, Mal know what they're talking about. He just always play dumb and try to change it. Of course you ain't gon be hurt about some random you was just smashing and ain't take serious.

He be killing me with that. Like "why would feel for a chick I wasn't serious with??".

So you 40 and never had a good chick that you had feelings for?

For sure but in Mal's case i think he's thinking about hurt in the most extreme ways (which isn't odd considering he's doing a show with Joe of all people). I think that's all Mal was referring too.

But i'm still with him on his point of being hurt by a chick you weren't in a relationship with is wild.

Not surprised at how Spotify is throwing bags around. Surprised there haven't been many other companies willing to take the reigns of podcasting and give it more infrastructure, though. It always confused me how Apple never really leveraged their position in the podcast world.

Listening to Joe on ItsTheReal it was interesting to hear how Spotify actually were the sponsor for Everyday Struggle Fridays. Makes a lot more sense how they came around to the podcast deal. When does the Spotify deal end? I know they decided to do two episodes a week to take a shorter deal. Should be interesting to see what they do next.

It's funny to me how he went to Complex with the idea of the podcast and other podcast and they said no. That was a low amount too.

Now it seems like Complex trying to do podcast with Joe LaPuma and Full Size Run. They seem so reactionary on everything they do. But then again they didn't even want to spend $300 for security for Joe and Ak.

The sneaker shopping show is good, but that’s rare to be honest.

Outside of that and everyday struggle I don’t know what shows they have.

Complex pretends they're about the culture. They have a name somehow still. Yet, they don't use it. The Ringer is bringing in millions from podcast wiht advertising.

Complex has half assed it with podcast and shows since Combat Jack and Clark Kent and Russ' joint.

They should have a podcast network of culture related stuff a long time ago. Gilbert has a good podcast, they should have done a real one with him instead of that lame gimmick show with the porn broad nobody wanted to hear talk. Nothing they do really last.

Occasionally they’ll have a good guest on there and it’ll be a cool 7 minute episode.

When they have guests like Shannon Sharp, PJ Tucker, or someone with actual knowledge of sneakers and sneaker cultures, I don’t mind tuning in.

I can’t stand the host but I like hearing some guy’s stories about old shoes so it depends on the guest.

Having Iverson or Dame Lillard is dumb as hell since they got deals and can only buy one brand

Ya the brand loyalty men/women on the show are super trash. Or people in general that have ties to specific brands is always trash.

Complex is a vulture that manages to still exist in this era, definitely suprised. Patiently waiting for the podcast market to dry up so I can find the real talent in the market. It's wide open still, especially in hip-hop so much a talented person/team could cover.

Didn’t see you all brought up the nails. I just posted this on the RAN thread.

The gay dude Trav, who calls up to the breakfast club frequently, flamed Mal up today:lol:

He had a good point too. Mal is always the super masculine “real men don’t do that”cat on practically all matters, and the dude most likely to pause someone, but yet he’s out here painting his nails. That rant had me rolling

Mal is definitely wildin’ out here with this one
