Since we don't have an official Mclaren thread I'll post this here.

Mclaren 688 High Sport

We can show you a world premier! This is the McLaren 688 HS! There was a spy shot taken of it, but we have the official photos by McLaren! There will only be 25 units produced and it is not easy to become eligible for one!


Even though the release of this car isn't planned until the third quarter of this year we can already show you the pictures of this rocket on wheels. The 688 HS is based on the 675 LT, where HS stands for High Sport. This McLaren produces 13 extra horsepower over the LT and it is much lighter! The solid rear wing seems to be inspired off the 650S GT3 which makes for the HS to look like it just came off the track!McLaren will produce 25 units of the 688 HS and only those customers who have spent quite some time, and money, at McLaren Special Operations will become eligible for one. All units of the car have already found an allocation! We would like to show you the first pics, get ready for a world premier!

This one is in LA...sucks that the owners have to try and lose these spotters who will go to great lengths following them around just to get a photo/video though.

Starting in about 20mins!  McLaren's lineup is gonna be sweet.

Crazy, right?!  I posted it in the F1 thread, but I guess this is more about the automotive-side of things... Apple's stepping-stone into the iCar...

Amazing... Love the 675LT and that paintjob looks amazing.  Reminds me of the paintjob on the TVR Tuscan Speed Six back then.  
 
I'm just not amazed by McLaren... Impressed, but have no desire to ever own one (besides the F1 of course)... Non of their cars feel special to me, including the P1... The fact that they all use the same engine is a big part of it to me... They desperately need a new engine, even if it's a 3.6 or 4.0 version of the same engine just to separate it a bit... I also can't separate any of their cars from each other, besides the P1... I'm all for good design language that flows between models, I do love Porsche, but they're just way to similar IMO...

They do have the best paint jobs around though :lol:...
 
That's a fair comment... I agree, the McLaren lineup does have an "evolution" feel.  All their cars have a similar DNA, so to speak.  

I do think they need more variety, not only style-wise, but also in terms of power.  Ultimately, they're not "engine builders", so this could take a while for them.

If I got my own 675LT, I'd want it in carbon!
