The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

WOW.

Lost some respect for woodley, talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

my mans been playing the victim ever since he got the belt.

dude just shut up and fight.

this dood the ultimate complainer champion

i was just starting to like the guy man and he goes and plays the victim again :{

how you the worst treated champion and aldo still walking this earth? the same week they finally give him the 45 belt they announce an interim belt, no way you win worst treated

or how about nunez? did he not see how she got ZERO publicity for the rhonda fight? mans cant be serious b

People really hate it when anybody brings up racism as if this last year in regards to the presidential race and shootings etc. didn't show us it's alive and well :{

Woodley 100% got a ton of what seemed like unnecessary hate prior to the Wonderboy fight and I have no doubt in my mind that part of it was because he was a black champ. Some of the comments I'd see about him on other sites were just ridiculous. Granted he's not a captivating dude but it still didn't justify the hate.

Having said all that, he came off wack in that ESPN interview. I had to watch it increments, it was kinda cringe. I'm all good with calling that **** out but don't come off like you're crying about it. Also Demetrious doesn't make the most money or have the most endorsements because he's a ****** :lol, it's like that in boxing too so that was a horrible example. Also Jon Jones ****** himself over with his outside the cage issues. He just went about that all wrong and it was just...bad.

Regardless, I just hope he's prepared to play the Mayweather role because nowadays suggesting that racism played a part in just about anything is about 1000 times worse than actually being racist to some people. Hopefully from here on out he just puts in his work in the gym and does the rest of his talking in the cage. He said his piece in a public forum, but now he's gotta move on and get to business.

i dont doubt the racial agenda he faces whatsoever .. however, he lost all validity to his argument when he mentioned Jones. UFC bent over backwards for him multiple times just to get burned. Dj is also another poor example because he has been known to just want to live outside the limelight and play videos games, he also fights in a division that's hard to sell to the masses.

For someone who is paid to be articulate, he did a VERY poor job in that interview

Aldo is an ethnic Brazilian fighter who got no love from the UFC compared to a more popular blond opponent

Nunes is an ethnic Brazilian fighter who got no love from the UFC compared to a more popular blond opponent

Those examples might possibly refute that Woodley is the WORST treated champ, but they clearly support his overall point in regards to the ideal type that the UFC advertising team and some portion of the fans seem to favor

I'll say this tho, Nunes did her talking in the cage and after she finished beating the brakes off Ronda. I wouldn't mind seeing Tyron take a similar approach.

He definitely gave horrible examples. Doesn't invalidate the truth in what he's saying. But yeah, he didn't articulate himself well there

woodley's too swole to care about boos from dumb mma fans. Next time he's on the mic he should tell the crowd no white savior is going to take the belt from him.

 They will strip him and blackball him so quick.

Idk what's wrong with Tyron. It's he needs a hug or need to be loved or something. I mean has he been disrespected as champ? Yes. I'm assuming he's expecting more pub like other black champions like Jones and Rampage. I mean no harm but he was out for a while before he ko lawler and then the draw with Wboy.

It's not like he's on some big momentum. Stop whining, string up some devastating wins and then you get some respect on your name.

Also and I haven't been in tune but whats going on with the blackzilians? Can anybody fill me in?

If you think any black fighter ever has had the same support as chuck or henderson or rhonda or connor you are mistaken

Ufc prime demo is middle aged to twenty somethin white guys... its obviouss who they pander to from promo to matchmaking

The main guys at Blackzilians (M. Johnson, Rumble, Shad) split off with Henry to form a new gym

Apparently there was a ton of drama between either the coaches and/or fighters that caused a split in the first place after the original gym was shut down due to bankruptcy

I still dunno what a blackzilian is. I just thought it was called that because a bunch of black and brasilian fighters trained there.

When they coined the name Blackzilian, it was because there were only Black and Brazilian fighters there. When they brought in training partners, they liked the atmosphere so much that they ended up staying. Hence why Stefan Struve is also part of the Blackzilians.

Yup.

No joke, of all the things I'm interested in and activities I do, never am I apart of a less diverse group of people than at UFC events.

I dunno man, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva had UFC by the balls at one point

True, but during that time I believe the both of them complained that the UFC didn't really push/promote them the way they did other fighters. They didn't blame it on race, but it's not the first time an ethnic champ has complained about it. Barao got basically no push and held an interim title for like 2yrs.

I think the real racism tyron faces is with the idiotic fans... UFC will get behind anyone that sells.. They also made tyron the face of their main tv show before he was EVER a champion.. He doesn't do nearly the numbers rhonda/conor do yet he thinks he deserves more say?.. doesnt make sense. He's smart enough to know that money dictates that sport.. what he should be doing is actually promoting this fight instead of saying he doesnt even know why he's there.. One thing we can't take away from conor is he was his own/best promotion.. he knew how to sell himself..

as far a pushing fighters.. UFC hasnt been pushing anyone lately that hasn't done it themselves first. These guys want to just show up and fight which is cool but then get upset because they arent getting huge sponsorship deals.. Tell me the last time you saw huge promotion for Miocic. Dude is the champ of the biggest weight class but gets zero promotion.. why? because he doesnt sell himself.

AGAIN.. i will reiterate that I DON"T doubt there is racism in the sport and possibly in the company as well.. But i also think there are also other contributing factors that need to be acknowledged as well

some of these fighters need to look at themselves tho.. they want the sport to grow in their communities they need to start opening gyms there.. take a card from boxing.

weidman vs mousasi is set for ufc 210... must win and a tough *** fight for weidman even more so coming off two losses

This. All of this.

Also, wish Weidman would take a little more time off, or at least have a tune up fight before jumping back in with a shark. 2 devastating losses, one more might push him to the bottom of the division.

im pulling for weidman as welll... might never get to see the rematch vs rockhold :{

Just saw the Tyron interview with ESPN... don't agree with him at all... especially with what he had to say about bones lol.

I would like to see The Chris win, cause I'd hate for him to fall into obscurity. But Mous is a tough fighter on a streak and has been looking great. It'd be a pretty big win for Le Chris considering he has been trending the opposite way.

Tyron most definitely could have made a better argument. I don't think WB is entitled to this shot, he's right in saying it was tie according to judges, so 'Run It Back'.

But it doesn't take away from the legitimacy of his point. There's an example of 'hitting the ref' that happened fairly recently. A black and white fighter had hit the ref, both to different degrees with the black fighter with what I perceived as a lighter offense. Black guy was kicked out of the UFC, first offence. Other guy was not. We can then make the argument on how the fighter is doing in the org. which we all know means something, but IIRC these were two guys coming up in the UFC and hadn't been fully established as of yet. So his punishment really didn't make any sense, especially considering the judgement for the other guy came before so it should have been apples to apples.

Great co main for 210. Hope Chris can get back on the winning track.

What's up with Rockhold and his return?
