The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

A year younger than me. Rumble was in his 30s. Leandro died from a random violent encounter with a corrupt cop. And Elias Theodoru (sp) died from cancer.

I remember watching the first season of The Ultimate Fighter and loving it.

Then watching the finale and feeling so proud that a larger audience was getting too see what I had been a big fan of for a few years prior.

What a night that was.

Wasn’t really a big fan of the guy as a person.

…but it’s a sad day for the sport.

Remember when Pride used to do those big Shockwave shows on New Year’s Eve?

God I miss those.

Everything about those events was HUGE.

The show openings alone were epic…like a thunderous neon symphony.

In honor of those magical times, I decided to dust off the dvd collection and watch one event per night until new year’s day…culminating with Shockwave 2004, the first Pride event I ever watched on PPV.

…REMEMBER.

Dream carried on the NY torch. Those Dream cards were long AF.

With its demise, it’s now Rizin.

Gotta be real. I hope Bellator has a NY resolution to be better. I’m sure they’re still #2 (especially talent wise) but they’ve definitely let PFL steal shine from them. The Grand Prix and crossovers are cool. But with Coker coming on and Boren out…they’ve diverged from their lineage and gone UFC light or freak show fights.
