Don’t see aspinal going to the ground with Jon so Jon will likely pick him apart at range

I've seen this movie before

I’m skeptical they make the fight happen

But with a new steaming deal coming up, it helps to negotiate with a big Jones fight and 2 fights still left with Conor

I typically tune Chael out but from that clip he had some very valid points. JJ is clearly in his get paid and get out part of his career though and probably only has 1-2 fights left. It is kind of a shame he took so much time off before the Gane fight though.

Jones looked great last Saturday. Still doesn't negate the fact that Stipe is washed. Mans pretty much retired the moment he went fulltime as a firefighter. If the Jones fight never got made we would've never seen him.

At HW, his performances have been good. He choked out Gane. And he picked apart a washed Stipe using his dynamic striking.

He’d probably beat most heavyweights. It’s just the Aspinall question or if he got touched by a Bam Bam, Pavlovich, etc.

Should he be higher on the P4P than Ilia? Islam? Alex? I dunno.

All things considered (surgery, long layoff, last fight lasting minutes, etc) he looked great. Don't think anyone but Dana has him p4p over any of the top 3 guys.

Jon also has a pretty damn good chin. He'd beat just about every UFC heavyweight but Aspinall. Think the Aspinall fight is more 50/50. Aspinall has big questions in his game too. Hes very hittable, never seen him have to dig deep or even reach the 3rd round let alone championship rounds.

That GNP was INSANE

nobody throw elbows like Jon.

Showed the full tool box, grappling, striking, GNP and made it look easy.

Had stipe's brain overloaded and got him watching

Stipe aint that much older than Jon.

Jon fight like hes in his early 30's still.

The time off has been super beneficial for him and hes came back better everytime.

Say what you want about dood out the cage, super valid

But dude is the ultimate martial artist inside that cage

I’m not taking anything away from Jon. He’s in a pretty exclusive club. One of only a few fighters to defend a title in two divisions. Most title fight wins. Probably the next longest title reign behind Anderson and GSP. Youngest champion in UFC history.

I just think Tom is faster, probably more powerful. He’s like a cat. I hope they throw the bag at Jon to make the fight. I legit think Tom is a bigger test than Francis due to age and being more well rounded.

Jones vs Aspinall is the fight that everyone wants to see. It would be great for Jon to take the fight and silence all of the critics. I can see his argument for wanting to get paid since he's one of the biggest draws. Aspinall has a ton of power and he's quick. The fight can go either way. The reason why there were never really long streaks at HW is because anyone can get KO'd. All you need is one big punch to land and everyone goes out. Jon is one of the highest IQ fighters ever and he studies all of his opponents in depth.

Stipe managed to get close to Jon in some instances and that's why there were times where he ran to avoid taking damage. Tom has really good BJJ based on what I've heard but we rarely get to see much of his grappling since he finishes his fights so fast. You never really get to see him work his ground game for most of a round. Jon has some of the best wrestling out there and he's really good at keeping distance with his kicks. I pray they just throw the bag at him and make this fight happen.

Yeah Jon/Tom is 50/50.

Jon was definitely getting lit here or there when he was turning his back and running away. I can’t see him doing that with Tom.

BUT…haven’t really seen Tom go against a good wrestler besides Blaydes (who can sometimes fall in love with his hands).

And honestly Jon/Tom is the biggest and really only big fight you can make at HW unless you lure Francis back.
