THE OFFICIAL AIR MAX 1 THREAD

Curious to know what most would have liked to see retro wise for this amd?
For me, both fantasy and reality (if they were to retro) rolled into one.

I think if I could put in my retro-request, it would be of some of the 1998 SC Leather styles. There were so many released back then, but if I could chose a few, these would be it: 604005-163 (Varsity Red), 604028-171 (Maize), 604005-146 (Navy Blue), 604028-131 (Forest Green), 604028-104 (White/Grey Miniswoosh) and 604028-161 (Burgundy). Ideally (since we're fantasizing) done in nice thick and soft full grain leather (not the paper-thin split-leather with PU coating and backers that everything is nowadays). I may just have gotten myself slightly aroused.

By the way, these are not too bad in person. The other colorway of this "Have A Nike Day Pack" release is... well, you know... colorful. I like them, but probably not something I'd ever wear. These I could actually rock.

Let me preface by saying I am not trying to argue by any means ha, I'm genuinely curious on why you think this and want to show just how nice some of the materials are.

Have you made a pair yet or been able to see all of the options? This is my mudguard and inside swoosh - you can’t tell me this isn’t soft/buttery...it's superrrr nappy lol

Here is my side panel (cord), my toebox/tongue (defensive mesh...different than OG mesh little bit more loose of a weave, I did OG mesh on first bespoke so I wanted to switch it up, reminds me of Urawa mesh) and then the mudguard is the reverse side of a swatch actually to give you a really nappy material.

Sorry for the late response I haven't been on here for a few days. No I haven't made a pair but I've held 4 different pair. I've seen the quality of the finished product first hand. Seeing them in person is the reason I haven't made a pair.

For context when I was younger I worked part time in a custom car upholstery shop. The shop did everything from tuner civics to vintage ferraris worth millions. The best stuff is still processed the way it was 100+ years ago. With natural oils, natural dyes, slow dried etc. Yes many Italian produces do it this way but also several other parts of Europe. Horween is an example of a company in the US. The stuff that went into the civics is processed with chemicals and fast dried. I'm not saying it's trash just when you have 2 hides side by side you can see the difference. It also makes a difference in durability and how it ages.

The shop sold the pieces of the high quality stuff that were left over. I believe nike is either not using high quality stuff or they are using someones leftover pieces. You could argue that since the nikes are made of a mix a materials and probably won't be worn all that frequently this is okay. Unlike a pair of bespoke dress shoes that are all one material and could be worn to the office several time a week. To me for the price I would want better. That and the fact they have more a factory produced finish than bespoke.

That just my opinion not an attempt to troll anyone as was suggested.

I dig the response and can get behind the logic for sure.

I’ve just been into IDs since 2006 and so the thought
of having that many materials and doing that much
to the shoe was like a dream and I really enjoyed my first trip back in 2015

perso i like a lot bespoke AM1...

IMO it seems to be very good quality (for sneakers)

Last pair is a custom bespoke, not a pair made officially with Nike, but still super dope.

Out of all of those, the second pair is my favorite. I believe that dude has made several pair if I’m not mistaken.

singledout singledout yes the first pair and the second pair are really nice and are my favourites! i love it!

effectively the last pair ("carhartt" duck canvas) is made by bespokeIND ( https://www.bespokeind.com.au/ ), that's why on top of the picture i wrote "not nike", yes super dope! more pics (see wave.fr link ):

I can understand this part. I made 5 pairs of 255 studio ids back in the day. I was excited when I heard about the bespokes but from what I've seen I'm too picky to 100% happy with them.

Re the Bespoke Industries price, thing to consider is that is 3 blokes in a building whos entire business revenue is generated by making just a few pairs of custom shoes.

Theyre not Nike bespoke.

They dont have a multi million dollar world leader propping them up.

They have to pay their premises rent, pay their bills, pay the mortgage and feed their kids.

Yes the shoes cost more.

But theres a reason, and theyre damn good.

Over priced? No.
