The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA announces new media deal / WBD sues the league

I suppose stories like this were inevitable...

*To be clear, I'm not assuming any validity to the story; I just knew it was likely someone would put something like this out.

To me, developing an ability to anticipate where a rebound is going by tracking the flight of the ball, timing your jump on rebounds, being able to make put-backs without coming back down and flat out hustle to outrun someone to a loose ball are real parts of the game. Stuff you can work on playing (unrestricted 1 v. 1). So I prefer the traditional version.

But I understand the appeal of the other versions.

Quotes definitely came from him

That roster had 2 maybe 3 NBA ready players on it

Knecht
Hinson
Lewis

Pure hoops. No fake fundamentals

Real talk is there any film of Kobe (2008 & 2012) or Bron (2008, 2012, and this summer) competing in any of these 1v1 during Team USA camp or practice? The footage that came out the other day had Bron just watching on the sideline while engaged in conversation.

These kids still exist. They will always exist. Don’t let your inner old head trick you into thinking kids aren’t playing as hard. There’s way more money on the line these days at a younger level.

Following your shoot is a fake fundamental. Especially on the perimeter. You’re giving up transition buckets every time you do that.

The game will still always be about creativity the higher you get. Your hustle man needs to learn have some skills. Your shooter needs to know how to score when he gets chased off the line

Following your shot is a skill. Lots of easy buckets or second chance opportunities missed out.

I know they exist, but your chance of making a roster on most levels is much higher as a specialist. Elite defender or shooter or rebounder. The NBA is the best of the best, so yea at that point you need to be good at everything.

I just don’t like these tendencies kids pick up today with these new games.

You want 1s as realistic as possible. Getting your own rebound after unlimited dribbles isn’t as realistic as say having to score in a spot with limited bounces before the help commits

I need to see blood and bones.

Yall are trying to remove the chaos from the game.

That's why yall Americans are never prepared for war. Yall want everything structured and sanitized.

Throughout the course of game, the opportunities to get your own miss outside of the paint are few and far between. Go watch an old game and get back to me. It’s been a fake fundamental for some time.

But Bridgeman understood her point. Salaries for players then weren't that high by today's standards. In Bridgeman's 12-season career, which included a stint with the LA Clippers, he made about $2.95 million and never more than $350,000 in a season.

After his career, he built a fast-food empire that, at its peak, totaled more than 450 restaurants nationwide. He became a Coca-Cola bottling distributor with territory across three states and into Canada. He bought Ebony and Jet magazines. His estimated net worth soared to nearly $600 million, behind just Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and LeBron James, among NBA players.

Made his money flip for real
