I don't get this, what problem is this solving?
I dislike this games played policy. It removes a lot of nuance. 65 games is fine but 64, nah.
Look forward to the shenanigans from this. Imagine players playing a couple of possessions then chilling the rest of the game. Or an unlikely winner because a leading candidate didn't play enough games.
Kevon Looney for DPOY and Mikal Bridges for MVP.
Plus a decrease of prestige made affects people on the margin. I don’t think adding a forth and fifth team will affect the prestige of making the third team
I think it has been discussed before that there are more players in league that there was decades ago. So a lower percentage of the league makes it now.
And the league is looking to add more teams soon
All NBA are tied to contracts and hall of fame voters consider them. Seems like current and future players are getting short changed.

And since there are a lot of snubs these days, seems to me making it relies on more luck than before
I think five is fineFour might be okay next CBA after the Seattle and Vegas teams are incorporated but five is too many IMO. Especially with this new 65 game requirement, things might shake out the way they should with 3.
It’ll just become a Top 15 players award, which I think there’s an appetite from fans to see. Baseball isn’t morphing into the positionless sport that basketball is either so it’s not really a great comp. Especially with All NBA teams being tied to major contractual implications, I think it just makes sense to do it like thatLike if your favorite player doesn't get a silver slugger award because the position is stacked that year.
Does that mean silver slugger should be positionless?

Remember when Nykesha Sales had a broken leg and the other team let her crippled self on crutches make a layup to be scoring leader or something? Doesnt get more bad faith than thatThere’s a requirement to be considered a stastistixal leader so I think it makes sense to have one for postseason awards. 65 (79%) is kinda high when it’s only 58 (71%) for statistical leaders, though.
The former will likely happen and I am going to be entertained to see how the league happens similar to how they handled Giannis trying throwing up a fake shot to get rebound for his 10th and a triple double. Also, just because they meet the game requirement, the voters could recognize those as disingenuous starts and not vote for them as a result. It would only make a player qualified. It doesn’t mean they would be selected.
The latter will 100% happen at some point.
I always felt this way, but I think the move to the positionless criteria strengthens my view on it.Well If selections are positionless going forward then it would be way less nasty to add additional teams I guess.
Not like you will be having Jakob Poetzl 5th team center selections and ish like that.
How many defensive centers are there even in today's nba? Let alone, a serviceable backup
I think five is fine
I think the gap between the 20th and 25th player in a season would not be that big
gonna have guys checking in for a minute then check out for the rest of the gameI dislike this games played policy. It removes a lot of nuance. 65 games is fine but 64, nah.
