The Official NBA Season Thread: Season Starts Now

the gobert trade definitely messed up the value for trading superstars... now teams expect the kitchen sink and will always refer back to that trade... kinda reminds of the Jazz asking for everyone on the Knicks for donovan but the Knicks refused to engage lol

Most likely had assurances from Portland about being serious about building when he turned down Bron and AD's recruiting pitch.

I don't buy that he had a sudden change of heart just like that this offseason without reason after the years of sticking it out with that franchise

I'm sure they told him everything he wanted to hear but it was cap. Why would he believe it after 9 years? Once they traded CJ the writing was on the wall. I fully thought Dame was gonna be next and they would start the rebuild then.

Herro, Jovic, Jaquez n a couple picks is a solid return for Portland and a reasonable price to pay for Miami if they in win now mode…Both teams need to Roll with that n move on
Now there’s reports that Miami won’t even offer that entire package

Folks was salty at the thought of that one so I can’t imagine what they feel about getting less than that

Depending on Masai of all people to be the one to bail you out is crazy

Dame is annoying but it’s absolutely fair for him to ask for the trade despite just signing the extension

He’s done everything the right way his whole career

Portland balking at the herro, 2 youngins/picks offer is a bit much imo

It’s not the lopsided trade everyone is making it out to be, Kanye shrug. Just move herro again if need be
If they want Dame so bad, It’s Miami’s job to find a 3rd team that will give up assets for Herro that they can re-direct to Portland.

In absolutely no way should Portland just be cool with accepting a guy on a $30M a year contract that they might not even want to start for them. Herro isn’t a bad player, but they literally already have the same version of him on a slightly cheaper deal.

And teams aren’t exactly clamoring to have multiple versions of that archetype.

I don’t see how money or cap space matters this season for Portland, especially if they get rid of nurkic. They’ll still have cap to take on bad money and picks right?

If they absolutely can’t find a third team, a 30 mill year herro isn’t setting the franchise back, regardless if he starts or plays 6th man

He’s still going to get starter minutes

If Scoot Henderson, Anferne Simons and Shaedon Sharpe weren’t already on the team, sure. But THEY picked those guards. They shouldn’t be pressured by Miami, Dame or fans into taking back another redundant guard just to fulfill Dame’s wishes.

If you were selling a pair of sneakers in the buy/sell forum and someone said “Cmon VVG…ill trade you these shoes instead of giving you the cash. You can easily flip them!”, you’re going to tell them that they should sell them instead and come back when they have the money.

Why should Joe Cronin and the Blazers do anything different with Dame when it comes to a trade centered around Herro?

Because they’ll be tanking

bro just cited some old *** videos. doing this type of training at 35 compared to 26 is vastly different, especially with the amount of miles these players have on their legs/bodies by their mid 30s
try comparing a saudi sand dune to a public beach in manhattan beach

Portland having Herro on their roster to start the season really isn’t much of a big deal or hassle  …They can trade him at some point or he might be better than the young dudes they already got, either way that’s not hurting a Blazers teams that’s starting a rebuild

Y’all act like Herro is 30 and washed and they’ll be stuck with a dead weight contract instead of viewing it as another asset that all bad teams usually try to collect and figure it out

Giving up Dame for nothing to continue to tank is an unserious move. Not sure if KD getting dealt for nothing was joke but Bridges aside, he netted 4 FRPs. Masai may be delusional peeped the OG ASKING price. Even though it wa sa horrible trade, we saw what Goober went for.

It’s unfair to expect the Blazers FO to accept a trade that they aren’t entirely cool with. You are asking for them to fleece themselves.

Trading an asset for an asset you don’t even want and will have to move or will create more issues for you (i mean having to decide between him, Sharpe and Simons) just isn’t smart business IMO.

Why make a move to set up another move when you have the prize and primary piece of the puzzle?

So Portland is getting nothing?

Wut

They’re clearly going to be tanking and rebuilding. Never said the nets got nothing for Durant so not sure what that’s about

The gobert trade got people’s trade value distorted
