yes they have, they just have used a more bulkier OG for the default shape when nike designed the first retros, back in the 90s the shape from the OG am90 was very inconsistent not one pair was the same, and QC was horrible compared to nowadays standards

Sorry can't agree with this. The swoosh on the 2000s retro is completely off. The shape also is off and too bulky, even for the bulkier of the 1990 release. Saw a lot of OG pics, but never one as bulky as the 2000s. For reference:

I have a question about the 2020 Air Max III Radiant Red, which I bought recently. The box, the shape and the goodies are great, but is the color really close to the OG? Its very neon-stylish and when I compare these to the OG and even the former retros, they all look more like the red of the box, more varsity red than neon red. Could anyone of the Air Max 90 purists and experts confirm that this 30th anniversary edition really is the closest version to the OG? Especially with the color which feels wrong to me but due the aging process of the 1990 model there is no out of the box comparison possible anymore. Maybe it had a neon red, too back then.

Anyone know if those Christmas joints fit tight due to the lining?

I've gone tts and my mates accidentally ordered full size up which would be a half size up for me. Will swap with him if they aren't massive on me.

I think they're fairly true to the OG's. If you give a look to 1991 huaraches, for example, you'll see that the colors on the upper truly pop as if they were neon-powered. I'm taking that pair as a support to my theory cause these colors aged well due to not being spray painted on the sole but integrated to the knit, lining, etc, which made them be timeproof in some way. The red areas on 1990 Air Max III's soles aged over time, they gradually yellowed and got ashy and such, which probably made them lose that "pop" the retros have. But I really think the Nike Retro team did a good job at restituing what the AMIIIs looked like back in the days, plus they probably based their work on OG ads that showed the shoes shining a bit as your pair does. I dunno if my answer sounds logic, especially since my English is faulty on many aspects, but I hope it will do the job.

Edit: AIRMAXDISCIPLE AIRMAXDISCIPLE , in cognito in cognito , TunedAirLombardy TunedAirLombardy and other specialists, what do y'all think about that??

Here you get a glimpse at how glowy the red can look on a pair of true OG's.

I posted 2 comparison pics of my best og pair versus the retro just a few pages back,so everyone could see for themselves how close they have come.
the inside's of the tongue's infrared color are identical. all other parts have weathered and darkened a bit compared to the retro and are a bit more red than the retro.
This is probably as close to color they will get.
The mesh however is a complete different story .It does look like the og mesh but rougher and more crude and the og has a pattern forming you don't see in the retro.
the mesh on the retro takes the detail level down ,and is certainly a detail to improve upon in the future.
also worth mentioning is that all of my 6 og 's are a bit bulkier compared to the retro version,so they are most certainly slimmed down a bit to much, but they left the angles intact making it have the same silhouette when side by side.
overall these 2020's to me are the best retro so far ,ever.
If they could raise the detail levels on other retro's they would seriously have my approval and money. (the nike air 180 in particular )

They seem pretty similar to the wooly lining option that was available with the pendleton id's last year. They aren't made super thick that you needed to half size up. I have wide feet and went tts and they fit fine.

waiting for my infrareds to be delivered today. are the toe dents that big of an issue for people? wont they dent on their own with wear?

A couple pairs showed up. And yes, every last pair will get run into the ground.

Any special treatment for storage or just the shoes in the box? Not sure if things like putting the shoes in ziplocs are really effective, I read evrything and its opposite on this particular subject

I’ve seen it all and tried it all.

the things I’ve seen that work best over the last 20+ years is:

-wear your shoes!! Even if this around the house. Get the shoe moving which prevents the glue from drying up.
-also storing them in a somewhat cool and dark place.
These things have helped 10/15+ year old shoes from falling apart. Another thing I’ve done is remove the paper from the boxes which IMO can prevent discolouring.

I would never use silica packets or store in bags especially zipped closed.
