Incredibly bizarre / puzzling that the Lakers played him in route to their last championship, have his post KD playoff film at their disposal, saw him just last postseason, and said

Yeah let’s trade the last few assets we have for that guy. Let’s pay 44 and 47Ms to a player who’s not top 50.

Pelinka, Bron, whoever’s responsible should never GM again

Guy averages 5 turnovers a game shooting 30 percent from three taking almost 4 a game and has terrible defense

He’s the problem can’t space the floor and bro can’t finish no more Him and Dennis are the exact same players except west getting close to 50ms a year . Lebron done goofed keeping tht and trading for Westbrook . Two guys who can’t play defense and shoot threes .

Bron and AD gotta be like the easiest duo of all time to build around. And somehow they managed to make all the wrong moves filling out the rest of the roster to diminish their talents.

In a vacuum, choosing to bring a 3rd star in is the move every single time, I think.

The issue w/LAL is 1) trying to lighten LBJ’s reg season workload (this hardly ever works) and 2) talent evaluation. Chasing the 3rd star is fine but saying “yeah russ, the 3rd star there he is that’s it” is crazy lol a 3rd star in physical decline who’s a guard and the worst shooter ever, perfect fit

Rockets trade away Russ just to trade him back for Wall? 🤔

And they’d still arguably be facing the same awkward situation on their hands that they’re dealing with having Wall there - a past-his-prime vet who thinks he’a still a star fitting in with a team that’s focused on developing young talent.

They’d be helping the Lakers out and getting nothing of real benefit back.

He's literally the only 3rd "star" I can even think of that doesn't fit with them. Basically everyone else can at least either shoot or defend, if not both. Russ does neither.

The crazy thing is Russell Westbrook has been mostly fine this season in the context of what I would expect from him. It is just obvious that bad Russ is so bad it will cost you dearly.

This should all be alleviated by the "Best player in the world" though. The SECOND YOUNGEST player on the NBA top 75 list. He's got so much basketball ahead of him and he's just now entering his prime. "The league is F__ed" I believe I was told.

Yeah we're just going to have to agree to disagree then. I just don't think you can/should be fundamentally changing the identity of your team solely to gameplan for someone to be out.

What happens when everyone is actually healthy? Russ doesn't do anything to help Bron and AD. He's one of the worst shooters and defenders in the entire league. For him to have any kind of success, he needs to have really high usage, and that makes absolutely no sense on this team when you already have the best PG of all time in Bron. The 3 man lineup of Bron/AD/Russ only has a +3.7 net rating, and that's with 2 top 10 talents playing one of the league's easiest schedules so far. Not good.

Just for reference, some of the 3 man lineups from last year's team-

Bron/AD/Schroder +12.2
Bron/AD/KCP +10.7
Bron/AD/Caruso +17.2
Bron/AD/Kuzma +3.4

Schroder was terrible in the playoffs. Kuz wasn't the same since his friends got traded. Trez ain't fit and twice we saw him get exposed in the playoffs. They had to go. Woulda been nice to keep KCP and Caruso but that's not enough. There really wasn't any small moves to make. The Kings was asking for too much for Buddy.

They needed to get a star, they wanted Dame but that ain't happen. They tried with Russ and it's a mess.

Lakers got some tough luck down the stretch with missed layups. Balls that were legit in and out. Bron had 1, THT had 1, someone else had 1 and then Westbrook capped it off when he got swatted by the rim.

Who was the youngest to make the top 75?

Favorite part of a classic movie.

All they had to do was tinker around the margins. Bron, AD, Buddy, Caruso, KCP, THT (lol), Dwight and some ring chasers.

Looking at what may happen in Portland, maybe they should have waited.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but the Lakers should have known not to trade for Russ.

The yips

You mean consistency’s hitting the top of the backboard and air balling shots and missing layups isn’t normal Russ?
