DOC was capping for BEN all regular season long while others weren't and in the playoffs up until game 7

i aint trying to hear its doc fault

It's not all of his fault, I agree with you.

But that press conference right after that game 7 loss was pretty much the coupe dégradée to Ben Simmons in Philly.

Again, I don't blame Doc for saying what he said or even disagree with him. It's really tough to ask someone to keep their composure after that game 7 loss, especially with the way they lost. But you can make a strong case about Simmons wanting to leave after that moment.

He started the problem when he said what he said after that game 7 loss. I get it was in the moment and he didn't have much time to process and compartmentalize, but he is partially responsible for all this.

Hindsight is 20/20, but had he shown support for Ben--I don't think it would've gotten this out of hand. We'll never know for sure, but the thought does beckon.

Ben started the problem by not improving his game. Doc was supporting and making excuses for Ben all year and after that mess in game 7 enough was enough.

Process of completely torpedoing Philly's future returns maybe

How much lower can the returns get? His value's already in the tank.

Minnesota gonna say "You know what Morey....Malik Beasley's off the table...you're gonna have to take Jaden McDaniels straight up now"?

Yea, exactly. I don’t think this helps. He’s not AD or Harden. He’s a guy who can only play the dunker spot for you in a playoff series acting like he’s the aggrieved party here.

Doc wasn’t wrong tho. He ain’t a POINT GUARD

100% agree with you both, for the reasons you mentioned.

But you have to stick by your guys at all times, until the very moment they get traded. Management will not be in front of a mic that often. Let them take the heat. The media saw an opportune moment, and they took it.

Is Simmons 13 years old? Officially want nothing to do with him now

I can only lie so much lol

Yea I don't see how Philly's at fault for anything in this situation after they gave him the max, got him help and pressure off him when they traded for Jimmy and let Jimmy go + gave him the keys as soon as he decided he wanted to run the offense while never improving his game

Dudes bent over backwards for him his whole career in the league and all he rewarded them with was by never working on his game, acting like that guy without the results and setting the locker room on fire soon as they stopped indulging him.

Even Philly fans still had his back until he embarrassed himself and them in the playoffs

It won't (better not be) for Simmons, but Atlanta has enough to pull off a deal for the next disgruntled star.

its way too early to break that team up.

Atlanta would be stupid to trade anyone on that team except for Capela and Reddish

Everything you said here is 100% true.

But when you commit to a guy long term, the way Philly did--You gotta stick by the guys side. At least the players and coach should anyway. You're in the trenches together. Let management and guys up top come down and look like the bad guys. That's what comes with the profile when you're at the top.

Lost in all of this, is we have a good Idea that Ben didn’t work on his jumper this off-season. And I don’t see him budging at all, at even attempting jumpers.

So whatever team trades for him, is going to be frustrated quick, unless Ben changes it around. And from what we’ve seen from him. That’s highly unlikely

CBA def will not make it easy for guys to pull the Harden, Simmons, AD move next go around. So these guys better get their rocks off while they still can too.

Word. A guy asking out with 4 years left on his deal is unprecedented...IF it was an actual superstar that did this, instead of a overpaid role player it may be overlooked. Ben Simmons is absolutely the WRONG matyr and may single handedly end the era of player empowerment.
