I'm pretty late discovering this thread, but I'm always looking for places to share photography!  I see some really great work just in the last few pages alone, it's a little intimidating.  great work, people.

I shoot film on a Pentax K1000 and have been at it for just a couple of years.  most of my stuff so far has been with the M50/1.7 and a Vivitar 100mm f/3.5 Macro lens (although not a true macro unless used with extension tubes, or macro adapter, etc.). as you'll notice, I'm still really into flowers/wildlife.   everything is manual (focus, aperture, etc.) and mostly handheld.  I scan my negs/slides on an Epson 4490 and do very minimal cropping/processing in an old version of Photoshop (the first CS).  here are a few of my more recent shots.  I love taking pictures, more than I love shoes these days!  long live film photography!

Hey Guys,

I have a T2i and have been using the kit lens for a while now...

I'm looking to upgrade my lens. Any suggestions?

play with a prime lens, 50mm f/1.8 II is a good start since it's cheap ($80 used).

not really good as a walk-around lens for cropped though (since you'd want something wider), but great for portraits and low-light shooting for a beginner.

Everytime I come into this thread I get more motivated to go and buy my dslr. If only I didn't have other stuff to pay for first.
Hopefully copping one by the end of the month.

some more...

my first star trail shot, aperture was too wide so there was some streaking and I think my cam had a light leak.  still cool though.  I did some contrast adjustment in CS, otherwise, it's just a wide open shot for abotu 3 hours at night on some standard fuji 200 film.

here's my most recent night shot on film, I got the technique down, but the sky didn't cooperate as much this night:

a couple shots on fuji pro 160S (recently discontinued film, sadly), both with the M50 1.7:

a macro shot (Vivitar 100mm with 50mm extension tube, on a tripod) on Ilford 50:

one of the greatest lenses ever and one of the greatest shoe designs ever, lurking (shot with the Vivitar 100mm on ilford 50):

next two, Provia 100 with the M50 1.7, minimal to no processing in PS:

Film photographer here. I haven't scanned any of my work but will in the near future.

In the meantime, digital.

and finally... if you're in San Diego, go to Balboa Park and try to find this. I can't believe this is real.

^oh my...  that is so very wrong!  nice shots though.  that second one is digital?  looks very grainy like an underexposed shot on some cheap B&W film.  did you add an effect?  looks neat.  I like the lighting on the first shot and the comp on the 3rd very much.  nice work.

I have a digi, I don't use it much though.  it's a canon 20d with 50mm 1.8 EF.  here are a couple 60 second long exposures I did recently.  the canon was on a flat surface propped up against my Pentax, hand held trigger (finger on the button, no remote) for 60 seconds:

and some others, more like 3 or 4 second exposure on these at dusk:

I actually was trying to get star trails in Hawaii and had all my gear with me and then lost my remote somewhere on the beach. I had the right setting for it too on this one cliffside where the stars seemed to be everywhere. I did get some shots but I was hoping to get something more crazy. I'll post up more later tonight.

Lots of great photos here.  I am just now really getting serious about photography.  Here are a few from my recent trip to Mexico.  I'm shooting with a D5000 at the moment, but look to upgrade to a D700 or a 5d Mk II soon.

Generaiya is in the market for a micro 4/3's mirrorless for <$2k. Amateur photographer but willing to invest in a quality camera.

Generaiya will be using the camera for traveling + blogging. Generaiya would like a compact camera, not bulky like a a DSLR, that can shoot similar photos.

Would any kind NTers help Generaiya out and give some advice? Generaiya has been looking at Leica (willing to pay the premium) and Nikon.
