Report: New PlayStation 3 Model Announcement Imminent
Is a cheaper, sleeker and smaller PS3 right around the corner?
by Colin Moriarty SEPTEMBER 17, 2012

Way back in July, we brought you word of a new PlayStation 3 model that was purportedly leaked in documents Sony provided to the Brazilian government in order to get it officially certified. That report – based on documents found by Tecnoblog -- indicated that the new PS3 model, seen in the picture below, would come in three models: 250 GB, 500 GB and an exceptionally small 16 GB model.

Now, a posting at Polish website Polygamia, discovered by The Sixth Axis, indicates that the Tecnoblog may have indeed been accurate.

The Polish website’s story indicates that a 12 GB model, close to the rumored 16 GB model, will retail in Poland for €199 ($262). A 500 GB model will follow for €299 ($393). Polygamia refers to a memo sent to stores that says that this new model will be available beginning September 27th, though the pictured advertisement says September 29th.

After the initial leak of this new PS3 model in July, it was expected that it would be revealed at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany last month, but it wasn’t so. Tokyo Game Show now seems to be the likely culprit for a reveal; we’ll have to wait until Sony’s TGS press conference, which occurs on Tuesday, September 18th at 9pm PT, to find out if our new prediction is accurate.

This model of PlayStation 3 would technically be the third major refresh of the console since its launch in 2006. The “fat” PS3 model was prevalent through most of 2009. The “slim” model, introduced in 2009, has been the mainstay PS3 ever since.

We’ve reached out to Sony for official comment, clarification and confirmation and will update when we hear back.

SuperSlim will be copped.

My Slims been acting funny for the past month or 2.

i might do some trade ins at best buy.  I could get 46 bucks for mw2, red dead, and blackops... should i dos it?

I'm thinking about getting uncharted 3 and saving the rest for something else.

Mine has been too, actually. Discs seem to be running louder over the last few weeks.

I can cook eggs on my PS3 after about an hour of use.

Also, I think MW3 F'd my PS3 up.

Back in November when the game 1st came out, I was always getting disc read errors, only w/ MW3, though.

Now it seems like every game I own will get a disc read error from time to time.

Not really a big deal, but its just an annoyance that I don't want to deal with.

What a nice tribute. I'll be buying it ASAP next week.

Gearbox Details Deceased Fan’s Role in Borderlands 2
How Michael Mamaril will live on forever in Pandora.
by Andrew Goldfarb SEPTEMBER 17, 2012

Gearbox has revealed the role that Michael Mamaril plays in Borderlands 2. Mamaril, a 22-year-old Borderlands fan who passed away from cancer last year, received a touching eulogy from Gearbox in late 2011. At the time, Gearbox said Michael would be included as a non-playable character in Borderlands 2 but didn’t offer any details.

Now, during its Community Day over the weekend, Gearbox revealed exactly how Mamaril will live on. Players will encounter Michael in Sanctuary, a town that serves as a home base where players can buy guns and supplies. During each conversation with Michael, players will receive a rare piece of loot, as well as an achievement/trophy called “Tribute to a Vault Hunter.”

You can hear Gearbox discuss Mamaril’s inclusion at 1:19:19 in this video from Community Day. Borderlands 2, meanwhile, will hit stores tomorrow, September 18th. For more, be sure to read our Borderlands 2 review.

Am i the only who regrets their vita purchase, sony is letting such a nice piece of hardware die. I have little reason anymore to keep mine, its just sitting collecting dust. If good news is in the near future its going to have to go.

I bought mine a month ago, and you're right.... not a great library as of yet.

Resistance and Uncharted were a little disappointing. Both had aiming issues, but they were still pretty fun. I am 1/4 of the way through UC and Platinum'd Resistance.

Batman 2 DC Super Heroes is pretty awesome, though. And once a few good games drop this fall with cross play I will be set. Right now I use it for web and Netflix mostly.

All in all, I am glad I bought mine, but not because of the software. I really hope to see some great titles in the near future. I still think a AAA RPG or two could really save it for me.

I loved the aiming in Uncharted Golden Abyss. I'm up to 470 headshots now in my 2nd playthrough on crushing. I think gyro aiming should be an option for any TPS game on the vita after playing it in GA

I have no regrets buying the Vita. I've got 8 games for it with another 2 coming next week. Ive played it more than my ps3 ever since I got it. It's going to be even better with all the cross play titles coming out and I'm hoping we get some good announcements at TGS tonight.

Just bought the Borderlands 2 Collectors Edition. I have no idea why I bought the CE. :lol

It looks like it has drop-in Co-op... if that's the case we should get some NT groups running.

I'm usually on between 12-4am Eastern. Just shoot me an invite if anyone is interested.

im pretty sure the reason the new 250gb ps3 is listed as 269 in the US is because its actually the uncharted 3 bundle

also i think the new 500 gb is listed as 299 is because its going to be an assassins creed 3 bundle

TGS: PlayStation Plus Comes to Vita in November
Discounts and freebies are finally going mobile.
by Greg Miller SEPTEMBER 18, 2012

Sony confirmed back in August that its subscription program PlayStation Plus would be making its way to the PlayStation Vita. A month later, we still don't know what you'll be getting in terms of free games and discounts when Plus launches on the Vita, but we do know you'll be getting them in November thanks to an announcement at Tokyo Game Show.

Sony's premium service on Vita will work much the same way it does on PlayStation 3, and your subscription will carry over between both platforms, meaning that you're already all set if you're a PlayStation Plus user. Gamers can expect free and discounted games, exclusive content, cloud saving, automatic updates, automatic Trophy syncing and more on Vita, a basically identical series of offerings carried over from PS3.

TGS: A Handful of New Vita Game Announcements
Valhalla Knights 3, Muramasa: The Demon Blade and more.
by Colin Moriarty SEPTEMBER 18, 2012

You’ve probably heard by now how incredibly underwhelming Sony’s press conference at Tokyo Game Show was, but there were a few new game announcements for PlayStation Vita worth noting.

For starters, Valhalla Knights 3 will be coming to PlayStation Vita in 2013 (at least in Japan, though the first two games in the series were released in the west, so it’s safe to assume the new one will also leave its native country). You can read about Valhalla Knights and Valhalla Knights 2 -- both PSP titles – while you wait for more information on the series’ third game.

Next up is Oboromuramasa, which the west knows better as Muramasa: The Demon Blade. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because it came out on the Wii back in 2009. It will be coming to PlayStation Vita with some visual updates, as well as new gameplay features centered around the Vita and some new content. It, too, is due out in Japan in 2013. Feel free to read our Wii review while you await new info on the Vita iteration.

Next up is Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, the next iteration in the Senran Kagura videogame series. Two previous games – both on Nintendo 3DS – came out in the last year, though neither made it out to the west. Out of all of the games mentioned in this article, this one’s the least likely to be localized outside of Japan.

Also worth noting is the fact that God Eater 2 -- already announced for PSP -- will also be coming to PlayStation Vita. The two versions will actually interact with one another, so gamers on Vita can play with friends on PSP and vice-versa. The original God Eater came out in the west -- we thought it was okay -- so expect at least the Vita version of the game to find its way out of Japan.

Other titles we already knew about were shown off at various times as well, ranging from the new Ys and Legend of Heroes games to a fresh Gundam game, Phantasy Star Online 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Soul Sacrifice – the new game from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune – was also shown-off again. Sadly, it has been delayed.

Will it play ps2 games? Probably not right?

Is there a 3rd party product that allows people to play ps2 drive.

Something along the lines as a usb connected ps2 cd drive.

Something that resembles this.
