**The Official Ralph Lauren Polo Thread**

Probably not something anyone is interested in but one of the Canadian Ralph stockists got a Collab Bear Knit for their 70th anniversary.

Store name? I appreciate these sort of moments, retail is difficult especially if you a brick and mortar only space

In regards to the increased retail prices, i know RL sought to become more luxury and less name brand. I have learned in many retail spaces, like clothing. It is easier to make less of a high priced item and charge way more than to make more of the same item and charge less. Even though there are less people who can afford high prices, they don’t usually need to bargain hunt. Especially with RL reputation and time in the market. RL probably makes comparably the same profit but the fomo can fuel the sales of the remainder of those same items, which they probably drop to a more suitable “retail” price.

I really enjoy the brand and it is my go to, but I’m a discount shopper with them mostly now.

I AGREE. RL believes that the pathway forward is the luxury customer that is willing to pay full price. I was watching the RL Spring 2025 fashion show. It was held in the Hamptons and the audience was full of elites from every facet of society (fashion, music, sports. etc.) There were no Lo-Lifes in the audience. RL is signaling that they are going after a new customer , an international customer and a deep pockets customer. I predict that in the near future, RL will be only sold at luxury department stores or their own stores (outlet or full-price). They are decreasing exposure to off-price channels like Marshalls/TJ Maxx and may pull it from mid-level stores like Macys/Belk/Dillards unless the store is in an upscale location. I'm still not paying full price tho!

Yeah but their online constantly has sales and them 25’or 30 off. I would think they focus on like purple label which is their high end brand not the entire eco system.

Every brand moving up or trying to will create some backlash and opportunities for others also.

These brands ain’t Porsche lol

Returned the RLX shirts. $168 msrp and the quality was like a $5 shirt. I was shocked at how terrible it was.

Jacket is basically a double knit.

Went to lenox mall today and the Polo store was on fire

How’s the polo ball jacket compare to the OG?

Never seen the OG. This felt vintage, I really liked it.
Nice the OG is pretty nicely made pretty heavy & sturdy for a satin varsity. Interesting thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the straight up retros they seem to do better with like this jacket or the casino for example having had OGs of both there pretty close. On the other hand the stadium & snowbeach stuff with heat press is a strong pass rather hunt down OGs for those if I was ever looking.

Bro... You don't want to see my retro snowbeach, still brand new unworn 🤦🏿‍♂️

Yesir, big time. Wondering how I can get it fixed.
Probably not worth the risk on something like that, but I’ve got some hockey jerseys the heat press logos/numbers start peeling off of after a few uses. I’ve fixed it temporarily using a piece of white paper and an iron - no steam/moisture, paper needs to act as a barrier between the direct heat of the iron and the plastic lettering. Though I would stress this is risky and it’s worth looking into a more official way of doing it, my jersey has lost pieces of logos and I’ve melted some corners of the numbers, I wasn’t being careful but it’s pretty easy to f*ck up.

That's unfortunate, I've worn my black snow beach rugby a handful of times and it's lettering appears to be fine. I must of gotten lucky as hell

anyone want a new bookbag? The reviews on this aren’t great but it looks cool

Moved mine recently for top dollar because I was suspect that it wouldn't last. The crazy thing is that the rest of the pullover like the nylon, inner fleece and stitching all appear to be great quality. Why would RL use that cheap glossy heat press. Maybe these are the machines availiable nowadays for print as I see the mitchell n ness nolan ryan jersey uses a similar looking heat pressing on the lettering.

Yeah i noticed all of M&N’s screen printed jerseys use heat press now. I remember they used to be screened into the mesh itself rather pressed on top.

If you read thru their investor presentations - they’ve been talking about this for a couple years now.

they wanted to reduce exposure / risk of dept stores (all mostly on decline, but still making up too large a % of RL revenues)

And reduce total volume going to discount / wholesalers - as it not only sells cheap, but it deprecates the brand.

They’ve been forced into some of the price increases, though, as a function of their premium branding. If everyone else is raising, and you don’t, you risk looking a tier down.
