The Official Tennis Thread (Vol. 2024 US Open)

Watched Keys v. Kerber this weekend...Happy Keys but I like Kerber.
I was indifferent towards Kerber... till I saw this...

Close call for Rafa, though Klizen was ball-bashing like a mofo and everything was landing in!  A very aggressive strategy that will work against Rafa... granted you can keep it up for 3-of-5 sets.  He wasn't able to.

I was hoping to get into the office in time to see some of that match...but I didn't. Get to see end of Isner and the end of Bouchard as well as the Serena match.

Okay Genie...I see your backhand...

Yeah she did. Its going to get even worse for her opponents as the grass gets worn in....

Not the most prettiest of strokes on the Tour, but whatever.

First few days are always the trickiest... grass is still slick... anything can still happen...

Rafa was sketchy early on too. He won't be able to save all of those break points every match on grass. I feel like an idiot for just NOW realizing that "Vamos!" is Rafa's "COME ON!". I heard him say it at least 20 times today trying to get pumped up.

Istomin to beat Reister and Stan. I'm also ready for the Wang upset over Youz.

Preliminary glimpses of Rafa would suggest Monfis or Gasquet have a ripe opportunity.

watching showtime dimitrov play today really hoping that he upsets muzza in a bid for the semis

Vika!

EDIT ~ What a match between Nole and Radek!  Helluva performance by Radek!

Why Vika....Why....

Common Cibulkova.

Hooray for Gulbis losing!!!

Guess Rafa was right. Gulbis is still the "best" player

Stepanek fought hard. I applaud him. Dude can S&V his face off.

Fog gave me an early scare in the first set. Don't expect him to do much at Wimbledon or anywhere away from clay for that matter.

Did I call the Wang upset from miles away or what?

Wait when did that Nadal Gulbis fight happen? What exactly happened and are they playing tomorrow?
Rafa is playing Rosol, the man who upset and embarrassed Nadal in the second round of 2012 Wimbledon.

Ernie lost to Stakhovsky.

Their conflict stems from Rome quarterfinals in 2013. Ernie essentially thought he was the better player and performed better than Rafa. Said mistakes cost him and Nadal didn't do anything special.

Rafa fired back saying the best player finds solutions.

Ernie has never lacked for confidence. He also called Muzz boring back in 2013.

I hope Ernie becomes this age's Marcelo Rios...Sans the #1 ranking.

Cibulkova fought back in that third set. :smokin
