The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

So it looks like stores will have stock of the VR tonight for those that did not preorder. Is this true?

Not sure how accurate that info is. Best bet is to call each store and gather actual info.

I know for sure you can score at your local GameStop. Individuals only have 48 hours I believe to pick up there pre order. After that, FCFS.

I want to get violently ill from VR. Just once, to see what it' like.

Anyone getting PS VR already have a racing wheel? I feel like that's gonna take racing games over the edge.

PS4 Pro Will Support SATA 3.0 Interface for its Hard Disk Drive

View media item 2196742
A while ago, the Japanese website 4Gamer published an interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment Engineering Division chief Masayasu Ito, during which it was mentioned that both the new PS4 Slim and the upcoming PS4 Pro would the Serial ATA (SATA) 2.0 interface for their hard disk drives.

Today they published a correction that they received from Sony Interactive Entertainment, clarifying that the PS4 Pro will actually use the SATA 3.0 interaface.

This increases the data transfer rate with the hard disk drive from 3.0 Gbit/s to 6.0 Gbit/s, improving quite significantly the storage and data transfer performance of the console.

It’ll be interesting to see how much this will influence elements like loading and installation times, but we’ll have to wait for real-world tests in order to know for sure.

Prepare for load times to be slashed.
Anyone getting the pro should definitely look for some SSD deals come black friday.

Studio Ghibli Color Designer Michiyo Yasuda Has Died.
One of the most memorable, evocative features of Studio Ghibli films is their use of color. The woman responsible for that has passed away. She was 77.

Michiyo Yasuda collaborated with Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata long before they established Studio Ghibli, working on films like 1972's Panda! Go, Panda! and as a color designer on Miyazaki’s 1976 television series 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother. After doing Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind at Topcraft, she headed up the color department at the then newly-formed Studio Ghibli.View media item 2196951

Question, I only currently have an Xbox right now, but I want VR in my life (had a cardboard for year, and played with an Oculus rift last week) does PS VR work well enough on standard PS4 or should I spend money on the pro?

VR is compatible with the current PS4...But if you're buying a PS4, you might as well go for the Pro.

And with the news that it'll handle 3.0 SATA interface for HDDs...That's a big plus if you plan on upgrading your HDD from 1TB.

Im vying for the cheapest entry lol. I've been good on my 500gb Xb1 for 3 years and im constantly decreasing my play time in video games period, i doubt i'll need more space. Thanks for the info tho!

lol, then yeah, the PS4 Slim at $299 should work fine with VR

I'm still debating if I really need to upgrade to a Pro...Might just upgrade the HDD and wait till I need to move up to the pro.

I think I'm going to hold out on the VR until more user reviews come out and some more games launch. GameSpot's review kind of confirmed my concerns about it. And I don't think motion sickness can be disregarded or just dismissed.

I feel like I'm the only one that thinks that whole VR thing is a gimmick. Since the announcement, it has not caught my interest.

From what I've been reading, it's all dependent on the person. I would test the unit out first in one of those pop up stalls they have in stores and even if you buy it, try the demo of the game before buying.

I haven't heard of someone getting sick for everything though

It's one of those things you just have to try it out for yourself. It's not for everyone but you need to try it out to see if its for you or not.

It's like 4K and HDR, you actually have to see it for yourself because they can't be conveyed any other way really.

And if you do try it then try it on one of the 3 major headsets not the Gear VR or Cardboard.
