The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

Good to see Chris/HorologyHouse has a following here. Definitely one really talented dude. One of his videos just blew me away and made me get that piece. :smh:

his op39 review really, really makes me want to buy the white dial, pics are impeccable there too

Yeah he helped sell me on the seamaster. The watch looked so good on under the macro lens.

Another channel I've been watching recently is the guy who runs watchgauge and nth watches. I think he appeared on one of the urban gentry vids as well.

Giancarlo seems to have teamed up with this
Yup! That's Giancarlo. He also fell out with TGV recently. He runs The Daily Wrist Watch Check group on Facebook and some accounts on Instagram. RJ has sold me on a few pieces in the past few years. Great enabler.

Yeah just realised that was a bad example

He seems like a cool guy. Also it would seem tgv makes a lot of enemies

I want this in my life. Who needs a roof over your head, right? :\

P.S. I still haven't watched John Mayer's new Hodinkee video. Might be better of not doing so. :lol

Just get the current $550... and liberally use sandpaper when you get tired of the DLC finish. Saved you $450 from getting the new one. :smokin

By the way, the DLC holds up really well, but I have managed to just slightly scratch the clasp when i dropped the piece onto pavement. Otherwise scratch-free. Good stuff.

Thanks. I'm so close to buying that g-shock but now I've seen something I can't unsee it has me a little hesitant. The bezel is brushed right? But the body of the watch is polished then the bracelet is brushed again. I think if it was consistent I'd be all over it.

Yessir. Once you get it all grimey and dirty you wouldn't really notice. The body is a bit of a smudge magnet, but it doesn't bother me.

It definitely reminds me of a Royal Oak, on how they executed this piece. Nice, a bit heavy but more durable since everything is in metal.

The bracelet is brushed, but the edges are polished. Nice little touch of contrasting finishing. Definitely grown to appreciate this piece. I don't baby it at all anymore.

Yeah it wasn't until recently that I noticed that it's design was heavily influenced by Gerald Genta design like the RO and Nautilus.

^ Collect them all! The silver version is really nice as well, but I opted for the DLC version.

or food on your plate...

DO IT!

How I wish... that it wasn't $450k. :x Definitely one of those pieces you can hear angels singing when it's on your wrist.

get the gold one

Nah. Not for me I'm afraid. I like the that the caseback matches the treatment on the watch. It's one of my largest issues with PVD watches in general is that they tend to leave the caseback.

the distressed versions nice too but was surprised its double the regular price but yeah I think i'll pick up the silver version sooner than later

Man I watched both the videos as well as a video on how he got his sleeve traditionally hand poked in Japan

Tattoos and watches are expensive hobbies to be getting into :lol

May have to pick up that seamaster before the price hike. I’m not a fan of the bracelet but it looks amazing on the rubber strap.

Ok....

First of all was it the sapphire glass or the metal on the case? Is the case precious metal or steel? If it's the bezel is it made of steel or ceramic?

All these are important in regards to how to go forward.

Assuming it's the glass you could get a cheap replacement sapphire glass fitted by a watchmaker for around $50 i think but this also depends on whether your watch has a Cyclops which could be more expensive and possibly have a different level of magnification. If you wanted to go official and do it as a service centre it could cost a lot more as they may force you to do a full service before replacement.

Now if it's the metal and a polished surface a cape cod cleaning cloth but use only the "juice" and a cotton bud as it's quite a precision based job. If it's a brushed surface use a bergeon polishing block that can simulate a Rolex brushed finish very well.

Both of these are handy if your obsessive about your timepieces enabling you to do basic cosmetic repairs that'll save some cash and keep your watch looking new for longer.

Really appreciate the response.

And for the record, it is on the glass.

Thanks again.

That speedy is beautiful. Still one of my favorite watches under 7-8k. I would have one now too but I bought a new car instead. I’ll have one by end of summer though anyways.

Edit: is it hesalite?

Hesalite! It’s crazy how Rolex was the top of the heap as far as acquisitions for me and now it’s behind another Tudor and a Grand Seiko.
