Wenger got his team selection wrong today. Why was Mertesacker on the bench? He has been rock solid on defense all season and did nothing wrong to deserve getting dropped for. Center Back isn't really a position you rotate players because it affects partnerships and understanding. Vermaelen is captain so is hard to drop him but I don't think him and Koscielny work well together as they do individually with Mertesacker next to them.

Gervinho should have gone off instead of Podolski but his goal allowed him to play a full 90 when his overall performance didn't warrant it. Giroud tho

Giroud can't catch a break (or finish). An equalizer would have done wonders for his confidence.

Can Chelsea supplant United or City this campaign? Hazard, Mata, Oscar all pure class. Chelsea looking far stronger in defense compared to the first-half of last year's campaign.
