Comparing Lebron and Steph Curry’s life growing up who sounds more like the underdog to you?

There’s more than one way to look at whether someone is an underdog.

Yes, LeBron grew up poor, but he’s also, just from a physical standpoint, probably one of the top 5 athletic specimens of all time. Certainly top 10. Even with his background, that fact gave him a better chance of being a pro athlete in some sport than most people.

Steph was a top 7 pick coming from an NBA family, he wasn't no damn underdog y'all just didn't know his college game would translate so well to the league

A 3 star...who went to a mid major...and went on to become an NBA Lottery pick has NO claim to underdog status?

So let me get this straight...

Dame Lillard
CJ McCollum
Ja Morant
Steph Curry

All of these players had a similar basketball path...all referred to do as being underdogs...overcoming the odds (the first three are on record crediting Steph as an inspiration but whatev)...but you're saying one can't claim being an underdog because his dad was a pro athlete?

why does it matter how someone grew up? kids can't decide their upbringing. Can't pick their parents or their opportunities or lack there of.

while we're talking bread though, bron been mega rich longer than he's been poor at this point though. he wasn't sleeping in the streets, he grew up the same way a lot of inner city kids grow up...with the addition of hyper genetics, top shelf athleticism and top 1% height and strength. Pity.

"We had pressures as far as where the hell we gonna sleep at," she recalled. "You know, from night, day to day, night to night. How we gonna eat from day to day, night to night?"

Plus, even he was an underdog by virtue of his upbringing for a while, I’d say that label stopped applying by the time he was about 14 and people were already predicting NBA stardom for him. Dude was on the cover of SI at 16 after all...

What’s “he ain’t even supposed to be here” mean to you?

It's a clear pun on Lebron's og statement...which SHOULD be clear common sense.

And even with understanding that...let me ask you AGAIN for the third time...what about that says "STEPHEN CURRY GREW UP WORST THAN LEBRON JAMES".

whitemamba27 whitemamba27 please feel free to chime in

Y’all acting like winning the genetics lottery only reason he’s in the NBA

do y’all even hoop?

y’all never met people with gifted athleticism who can’t ball for ****?

So really the only reason he's an underdog is because he was 160 pounds in high school?

Y'all never saw former NBA players kids who can't ball for ****?
Let me ask you a question of simple mathematics

what do you think is the bigger ratio

the number of people who’s parents were professional athletes who don’t pan out

or

the number of people who parents weren’t professional athletes who don't pan out

So really the only reason he's an underdog is because he was 160 pounds in high school?

Steph Curry is an underdog because the path to him being an all time great nba player was unforeseen. And that’s due to his size, high school, play style and college he went too.

Low key...Eric Maynor paves the way for mid Major un-athletic PGs to be taken as serious prospects. Steph built on it. Dame, CJ and even Jimmer benefited from it.

Again, we’re talking about basketball. I don’t see why this is considered a stanning or who had it worse conversation. Not being able to acknowledge ****, and always falling into Stan or defend mode is the worst part of this thread.
