What is Bill Self or Roy Williams going to teach you in five months that you didn't already know?

International basketball is much closer to an NBA style than college ball is.

I DO think there is an exposure difference when it comes to endorsements. As far as actual NBA scouting goes though, I don't see it as a factor at all.

FOR NOW, at least.

How is it a non factor? How many NBA scouts are watching every overseas practice, following these kids around campus, interviewing every coach, are present at every game?

I dont think Roy Williams ever helped any one and done player. Once Cole saw the trash he was surrounded by he left all ****s given at the door. Exposed himself even more.

Point is, unless our family is in dire need of money, I legit feel like everyone here would not go the overseas route if the same opportunity presented itself. From a pure basketball standpoint, unless you’re some next level talent, you’re killing your exposure.
I know I’m always picking the real check and overseas over ever stepping foot in a place like Kentucky or Kansas :lol

The Ringer's Bill Simmons is joined by Joe House and Chris Ryan to revisit the 1999 NBA draft, talk through some of the NBA subplots and legends in that draft class, and redraft the first 14 lottery picks.

Teams have multiple international scouts, they do the same work overseas that they do with the college kids...You think the Pelicans scouts went to EVERY Duke game and practice ?

Good convo so far today, nice switch up from the usual afternoon shenanigans :hat

Jokic too.

In hindsight, there's only so much scouting can do. There's always "i cant believe we missed on that guy" stories every year.

Yes, you have to. Practice maybe not so much, they know the whole staff.

This is before you know what pick you have.
Anthony Edwards played at UGA and the Hawks ain’t even show up to every game and practice up the road, heard the GM on the radio down here talking bout how they scout him ...They pick and choose certain situations and matchups they wanna see the prospect in ...They flying all over the country getting a look at multiple options, they not on the road with just one player
