Thread about Jesus - Questions, Bible Verses and Prayer Requests

Let's say someone has a huge test and they study all night for a week and right before the test the person says a prayer to pass the test. Test scores comes back and they pass and you ask "how'd you do it", the person answers "because I prayed about it", thats kinda is illogical no?

This is one of the issues I have with religion. When something good happens, "it's God's doing." Not because you prepared yourself. When something bad happens, "it's because I didn't pray enough/lack of faith etc." At least that's been my experience

That's the "holy fear". No matter what you do it's not your doing, unless it's bad then it is.

But....

Brings up another question. If what we do is either gods blessing or gods curse then aren't we just being controlled aka no free will?

True/False: Nobody REALLY wants to go to Heaven. They just don't want to go to Hell. What is special about Heaven? On our knees all day worshipping God? Will the thought of boredom be erased from our minds because there is NO WAY that anyone is looking forward to THAT.

Its NOT biblical, but I believe God helps those who helps themselves. Your work towards something, put yourself in position the best you can and God can carry you the rest of the way. God sees your heart. You really wanted it so you put the work in. You were faithful to Him so he gives you the desires of your heart. Not always the case tho. And things don't always go in your favor. There's no formula for always 'winning.' And whose responsible is based of perspective, in terms of who gets the glory. ( in the grand scheme of things, life itself is the biggest blessing and greatest opportunity, so one should be grateful for everything that comes their way therein regardless of the results - just be glad to be here fam and be all you can be)

Then it started dawning on me, "Wait, no; just lock your doors."

that ether

Spoken like a true bible toting christian.

Why would GOD want to child have an alcoholic father, who would cause pain, just to "meet" him.
God comes to us when
We are most humbled
Especially at our points of
Self hopelessness

Being bitter about the situation
and blaming God just adds
Unnecessary anger to your
Situation.

He wants you to know
That he loves you.

Beautiful revelation Bach.

But did YOU not do it if you prepared for it? Wouldn't it be more "powerful" (for lack of a better word) to go in unprepared, pray (with a pure heart and really mean it), and somehow know whatever you need to know?

If you believe that then suicide would not exist.

I''ve actually done that more times than I wouldve like to in college ( high school I was a genius and never studied. College, :lol not so much) and I got exactly the grades I wanted. I would feel blessed and thankful that God came through for me. But I also felt that I was abusing our relationship cus I didnt put ANY WORK IN AT ALL. Im talking, ballin all day, sleeping and class and praying my self nuts. It was all Him cus im doin eanie meanie minie mo on the multiple choices reciting psalms lol. (man them days was cray) But I was sincere as eva cus I knew I cant kkeep doin this. He wants me to trust in Him not get by cus of Him.

God's tighter w/ you?

Yo I cant call it and wont even front like I got the recipe. I wasn't even in the same place as I am in now. Not as faithful, knowledgeable of the word or nothing. Actually was coming outta athiesm. But it happened for me on a couple occasions. Some math courses ( which I suuuuuucked at ) , physics, and economics. First time, figured I got lucky but 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Im like wow. Thanks God. Then Im like, I gotta stop doin this and study. Cus what happends when I really need Him, and Im just exploiting this relationship for grades..... Maybe he saw my heart at its core. I dunno.

My thing is this. When yall start giving God praise for micro-managing type of foolishness, it is annoying.

Seen one dude on FB say something like, "I got so much faith in God that I don't even set my alarm clock anymore. God wakes me up at 6:30 am EVERY day."

I am thinking to myself, how about your body is used to it so THAT is why you wake up at that time every day.

God doesnt't give a damn about what time you wake up man

So before proclaiming that things CAN happen if you ask God and don't put in work, what about the people who pray and don't do anything else, and fail?

Either you're making your story up, or god picks and chooses based on... what? Numbers in a hat? Who likes more of his statuses?

Full of it man

Doesn't bother me. Either Im blessed or I keep a rabbits foot on deck. All I know is I got the results I wanted. Praise Abba.

Wanna hear something crazy tho?????

Had my finals one year and I was not ready for not a one of them... I had a weekend to prep. Didnt open not one book. I was so shoooookk. Like if you been to college and care about finals, you know the feels. I pppprrraaaayyyyyyyyyyyeeedd sooo hard for something to happen so I could have more time to study. And then something crazy happened.... The MTA went on strike. So my school pushed back the finals for more weeks ( i went to school in the city) due to the strike. That was so crazy. Maybe my prayers worked, maybe they didn't. But i got results. Amein.

You do know that you are indirectly insulting the intelligence of your God right?

Again, what of the next person? God saw your heart and gave you answers even though you never studied, multiple times. Got it.

Def not making anything up. There's no way I can impress anyone on NT, so I wouldn't even try to, much less lie. When I was younger I used to pray and get answers almost immediately. I used to get pretty much what I wanted. Now, not so much. And I am 100000x better than the guy I used to be. ( faithful, honest, knowledgeable and obedient to the word) So that goes to show you that I have no secret.

I wish I knew what exactly what the catalyst was so I can have somethings addressed now. But I dont believe its a one size fits all type of deal. I feel that God does pick and choose. If I could tell you how, that would be the key to the universe, wouldnt it? That, I dont have.

What did you mean by the God is on Israel's side comment?

I meant that the God of the scriptures/ Bible, the God of Abraham/ Isaac/Jacob, the God of the 12 Tribes of Israel, is for Israel. This beef goes back to biblical times and wont end til Yeshua Hamashiach ( Jesus isn't even accurate, it would be Joshua in english. ) returns. So... buckle in

What happens when he returns and when does it happen? How does he end it?
