People know what to expect, a lot of action, some funny moments, a lot of shots of Megan Fox, no one should expect an Oscar candidate here.

It doesn't need to be an Oscar candidate to be a good movie. The first one was awesome for what it was and was highly acclaimed. If this flops, plus T4 and Wolverine this will be the worst year for the blockbusters ever.

I'm aware that it can still be a good movie without being an Oscar candidate, and the first one wasn't highly acclaimed, it got aboveaverage ratings and reviews.

Like I said, I'd be surprised if this flops despite poor reviews. While I agree T4 and Wolverine weren't great actions movies and disappointed qualitywise, they both surpassed 300 million in the worldwide box office, which just shows people will still see crappy action movies. Granted, both those moviescould have done FAR bigger numbers if they were done better, but they still brought in an audience.

Having said that, I'll be seeing it soon, not too excited hearing these reviews so I won't' get my hopes up

I thought Quantam of Solace was good, but not as good as Casino Royale.

In the end, it comes down to what you (the viewer) thinks of the film. Of course, majority would go to RT and agree with the ratings, butsometimes I just don't trust the ratings. What did the first film get ?

It's just the nature of action movies. Rather than be creative and try something new, they simply reboot, remake, sequel/prequel, etc. anestablished franchise in hopes they audience takes the subpar product. Sometimes they can get away with it simply by having enough effects to draw in theaudience, but it's usually always a problem with the script. Not enough attention and respect goes into the writing even on big budget action movies,movie studios too often cut corners and let crap scripts get made into movies, but as long as the movie makes a profit they'll be happy.

of course people are always gonna have some kind of expectations based on their experience from the previous movie(s). but, in terms of bond movies alone, q ofs is average.

and, after seeing every indiana jones movie in hd, i would actually put crystal skull ahead of the lost ark.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination.

The plot is incomprehensible. The dialog of the Autobots, Deceptibots and Otherbots is meaningless word flap. Their accents are Brooklyese, British and hip-hop, as befits a race from the distant stars. Their appearance looks like junkyard throw-up. They are dumb as a rock. They share the film with human characters who are much more interesting, and that is very faint praise indeed.

The movie has been signed by Michael Bay. This is the same man who directed "The Rock" in 1996. Now he has made "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." Faust made a better deal. This isn't a film so much as a toy tie-in. Children holding a Transformer toy in their hand can invest it with wonder and magic, imagining it doing brave deeds and remaining always their friend. I knew a little boy once who lost his blue toy truck at the movies, and cried as if his heart would break. Such a child might regard "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" with fear and dismay.

The human actors are in a witless sitcom part of the time, and lot of the rest of their time is spent running in slo-mo away from explosions, although--hello!--you can't outrun an explosion. They also make speeches like this one by John Turturro: "Oh, no! The machine is buried in the pyramid! If they turn it on, it will destroy the sun! Not on my watch!" The humans, including lots of U.S. troops, shoot at the Transformers a lot, although never in the history of science fiction has an alien been harmed by gunfire.

There are many great-looking babes in the film, who are made up to a flawless perfection and look just like real women, if you are a junior fanboy whose experience of the gender is limited to lad magazines. The two most inexplicable characters are Ron and Judy Witwicky (Kevin Dunn and Julie White), who are the parents of Shia LaBeouf, who Mephistopheles threw in to sweeten the deal. They take their son away to Princeton, apparently a party school, where Judy eats some pot and goes berserk. Later they swoop down out of the sky on Egypt, for reasons the movie doesn't make crystal clear, so they also can run in slo-mo from explosions.

The battle scenes are bewildering. A Bot makes no visual sense anyway, but two or three tangled up together create an incomprehensible confusion. I find it amusing that creatures that can unfold out of a Camaro and stand four stories high do most of their fighting with...fists. Like I say, dumber than a box of staples. They have tiny little heads, except for Starscream[emoji]174[/emoji], who is so ancient he has an aluminum beard.

Aware that this movie opened in England seven hours before Chicago time and the morning papers would be on the streets, after writing the above I looked up the first reviews as a reality check. I was reassured: "Like watching paint dry while getting hit over the head with a frying pan!" (Bradshaw, Guardian); "Sums up everything that is most tedious, crass and despicable about modern Hollywood!" (Tookey, Daily Mail); "A giant, lumbering idiot of a movie!" (Edwards, Daily Mirror). The first American review, Todd Gilchrist of Cinematical, reported that Bay's "ambition runs a mile long and an inch deep," but, in a spirited defense, says "this must be the most movie I have ever experienced." He is bullish on the box office: it "feels destined to be the biggest movie of all time." It's certainly the biggest something of all time.

I know Ebert is a world renowned movie critic, while he and other critics are bashing the hell out of this movie...
I can't really base my opinion off of other peoples review in regards to a movie based on a cartoon series that i grew up watching.
I feel like a kid again watching this type of stuff. Cant let peoples negative opinion stop me from having high hopes going into the theater

i thought the movie was SO ILL!!! better than the first..............i do think you have to be a transformers fan in order to enjoy it though, like really bothmovies are great examples of the cartoon brought to life but i highly doubt the critics giving the movie a bad review have seen the show

little things could have made it better like some charachters having more time, but all in all there were many :O moments and prime does justice in this one!

i will reserve judgment until I see the movie. I wasn't really expecting much out of this movie, but reviews are making me scared. I bought tickets in IMAXfor tomorrow night. I am pretty easy when it comes to these kinds of movies, so hopefully it doesn't disappoint too much, especially going in with lowexpectations. If all else fails, Megan Fox is in it

I thought the movie was ok. Not better than the first. Some scenes were forced to me. Could have shaved about 30 out of it also. Go into this movie to have agood time. Don't take it too seriously, fun movie though

Just got back from the midnight show, bottom line is if you liked the first one you'll like this one too. The fights are better, the robots are in alotmore scenes and the SFX are sick.

aside from the autobot heaven, if you watch it with just pure enjoyment and not like one of these middle-aged balding critics who wish every movie was depictedlike Casanova, it's actually good entertainment for the action and the eye candy.
