Ehh I think given the right context you could argue they function as this commentary on the idealization of cultural icons from adolescence that could be soldas is… They're like this uber refined (like really accurate/clean/etc.) version of a common practice of children's drawings of iconic figures i.e.Transformers for an 80s baby. Cartoons being highly iconic for most children.
