Trinidad James said "The South runs NY" while in NYC..

It was some truth to what he said definitely but it's not like he saying **** that hasn't been said before regarding NYC

People getting up in arms because it's Trinidad James lame *** when all this ***** tryna do is stretch that 15 min time slot as long as he can

Work sounds like Houston screwed to you.... shabba? dump dump?

Angels? Fashion Killa? ****** Problems? Phoenix? anything on the current A$AP rocky album?

I don't care where you claim it started...... when people think of Trap music they think of ATL aka where it was popularized.

Nobody is saying that Houston culture hasn't affected hiphop what i am saying is that when people talk about the "south" being hot they aren't including houston artist or their specific sound in that statement.

They are mostly talking that trap sound that got popular when T.I,Jeezy, Gucci, Waka, Ross etc etc started using.

The irony is that when you think about who would be at a Trinidad James concert, how can you expect them to have done something? Dudes making it sound like he was at the Tunnel in 96, flexing lol foh.

Anyways, lol @ the south running anything now. As someone mentioned in here at this point in time there's really an amalgam of styles coming from a lot of new artists in every region. You've got rappers from the Chi that sound like they're from the South. Rappers from the West that sound like they're from the East. Rappers from the South that sound like they're from up north. Etc etc. We live in the digital age man. The generation coming up now was raised on music from all over the map. How can you not expect for there to be acts like A$AP Rocky, who is clearly influenced by music from all over. The South still concerned with trying to flex their top of the game status but the reality is no one region is running anything anymore. Things have become more universal. Anybody from anywhere with any sound can get on and prosper. No one cares as long as the music is provocative.

Ferg whole tape sound like some 1995-1999 triple 6 mafia lol he was on his best koopsta Knicca and lord infamous impression. NY rap died when dipset/rocafella era finished, and the south been making moved in rap since the 90s it's just that they were a minority but folks act like the south just started getting play in 2008 lol

Nah but his entire mixtape does...matter fact work was made BY a texan

...and all those newer songs have screwed vocals at some point. Don't play with me...

We'll never agree I'm southern raised and your from NY. You don't want to see it from my angle anyway.

The south has always did what we wanted. We never asked anyone to LIKE what we do. The east coast just noticed it was working without the "mecca" backing it. Nothing has changed.

RIP Chad Butler.

Fam you are acting as if NYC owes houston their careers or are biting off them because their influenced by something from that region. I could see If They were out here claiming to be from their or portraying something their not.

Must i really list how much NYC has influenced artist from the south......

Under your mentality all of Houston are biters for even having hiphop in the first place considering the ENTIRE culture was created, harnessed, and made big in NYC

Hiphop is about mixing different elements and creating a different sound.

A$AP sips lean and they use screwed vocals.... They also use Harlem/ NYC terminology all throughout their music..... i don't believe anyone has shot a video not based in NYC, they rep NYC everywhere they go etc etc.

They aren't hot because they bit the south they are hot because their influences helped them make a sound that isn't regional and develop a lane of their own..... Nobody in this new generation makes music that they do.

Rocky and French are both WAY beyond Trinidad at this point.... quite frankly nobody should reply to him because he's trash. and by nobody takes them serious what exactly do you mean? because both seem to be releasing a bunch of music that a bunch of people like.

This would be said in every other city other than detroit. 90% of the cats who attend a Trinidad James show are complete hipsters or people just trying to get drunk and find ****.... of course nobody was going to touch him.

He damn sure wasn't gonna go to say a club with the maino/uncle murda crowd and not get hip tossed off stage by someone.

It did just start getting play in 2008. They could of made all the moves they wanted to in the 90s. who cares if its still local. It just got play in 2008 though IMO

Well you right about this.

3-6 Mafia was doing it in the 90's though. :lol

all three of them are trash, but these artists taking too freely about NY rap. we get it, we fell off and we ain't on top. but to keep bringing this up is just begging for attention. we need a NY heavyweight to smack one of these dudes in the mouth because these youngins just ain't gonna do nothing about it.

I feel you're talking a lot of what a handful of dudes are saying personally. ASAP Mob (and Raider Klan) are influenced by a lot if old Houston and Memphis music, and it's clear as day, as they even mention themselves. I'm one of the few people on here who don't actually see their style as biting, as I think theyre doing a very good job of replicating that sound and presents it in a fairly unique way. That's why I dig both of those groups. I can listen to a DJ Paul and Lord Infamous 'Serial Killers' or Juicy J Volume 9 mixtapes and see those direct influences on Raider Klan releases, as well as seeing that plus old DJ Screw and S.U.C. influences on ASAP Mob releases. Just cause you throw a bit of Harlem/NY slang over something doesn't mean it came directly from NY. If you wanna see actual biting and culture harnessing, try Lil' Wa_n_ soul lifting Dipset's style then gradually distancing himself from them.

To see that those groups weren't influenced by both Houston/Texas/Memphis is just blatant oversight. just from a handful of your statements, not only does it sound like you don't listen to ASAP Mob, but it also sounds like you've never listened to old Houston and Memphis music. Nobody has truly blown here in years (I could care less about Kirko Bangz), but the style is ingrained in a whole bunch of mainstream and underground music.

First of all even if he was right Trinidad James has no say on anything hip hop. He's like a riff raff or ali g. I'm just waiting for him to break character. Theres no way he's real.

Anyways A$@P to me sounds more like Bone Thugs minus the singing . The way they switch flows. Beat wise yea you can hear that southern influence (triple six).

I don't understand the hate though. This regional **** died a while ago. In this new day in age regional cultures have melted especially with the internet (fashion too).

Look at all the major crews right now. Young Money got Wayne, Drake, Nicki etc all from different regions. MMG is Ross, Wale, Millz etc all from different regions. Its not the 90s slash early 00s when Ruff Ryders was all new york, The Roc was all East Coast (ny, philly), Bad Boy all NY.

Basically what I'm saying is if you want classic NY hip hop its still there (bronson, pro era, etc.) Just isnt mainstream right now because thats not what the people want to hear.

Plus how can you realistically think a certain kind of Hip Hop will always be whats hot on the radio. All genres of music go through cycles like this. If its good music its good music.

That being said bouta throw on this Underachievers and ride out :smokin

It's crazy tho, I think he was out of line because of the context in which he did it but he wasn't completely wrong. And it's not so much the south runs ny, everybody runs ny lol. Now a lot of ppl are rapping with the lil Reese chopped rhyme scheme. When Cam and Vado dropped the BOAB 1-2.5 those were pure gold. They had there own sound which didn't sound forced or trendy. But where was the backing? The city should have put vado on, supported him with slime flu(which was pretty damn good) but it was mostly an underground quick fix. When French was with max b that was the best music French ever put out but where was the backing? Why weren't those songs on the radio during the day and not some late night 60 second mix? NY wants everything spoon fed, we don't want to break stars, just complain we don't have none. Cam is one of the GOAT. Not just for himself but what he did for the ppl, the sound, the trends and the movement. Go to kingdome and you saw dip set, go to 125th st and you saw dipset, any given night in NYC and you saw dipset. Now only time you see a ny artist is at the club getting bread for a walk thru.

Can't really blame the artist for going somewhere else and getting love, when they own city don't show it.

Saw Trinidad come up and him hangin around lil 5. I was born in NY and lived most of my adult life in ATL so I will say I have a pretty even perspective on the topic....

HOW THE **** ARE Y'ALL TAKING TRINIDAD SERIOUS?!?! :rollin

Dude barely even rhymes in his raps, c'mon y'all chill
