I'll number these #1- whatever for as long as we can keep going. Hopefully one of my fellow Team Marvel homeys can keep them going just in case I slackoff. No offense to smaller companies but I'll just stick with the 3-5 main comic companies out (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Top Cow)...Its too much workkeeping up with everybody. If you wanna add stuff, cool...I'll edit the post to include them. I'll also only try to include the best stuff thats incontinuity and the cooler stuff so as not to alienate comic book new comers with older stuff. These guys have a hard enough time trying to understand what thehell is going on.

In here...add what you like. Your own art. General Comics Discussion. Pics of your pickups. Stuff your reading for the week. Copy and paste movie and comicsnews. Whatever you want.

I'll post the title of the Comic, A brief synopsis, and below it the different covers that will be available to that cover. (If I can track them all.)

* Use Google Maps. And enter "Comic Books + your zip code". You should get a pretty good list of comic shops around your area.
If its too far (by that I mean its 40 miles away and such) and they will actually send you stuff through the mail. Most of these guys got paypal and newsletters to keep you updated. And you have this post as well now to keep you in the loop.
* Order off a comic book website such as X-WorldComics.com , MidTownComics.Com , MyComicShop.Com ...Just to name a few.
* Guys, I was thinking It would be cool if we could do something to trade or sell our comics to each other. I know theres alot of us in here with a ton of crap. Like me. I'll figure something out in the near future. We could even do it through ComicBookClassifieds.Com and update it here if you want.

good post.

Beta Ray has always interested me, just never read any of his stories. Are you only doing Marvel/DC or indys too?

I've been waiting for that Deadpool 12 joint.

Mostly, I'm catching up on old stuff and paying attention to a few of my favorite characters. Marvel has SO many different titles, it's impossible tokeep up.

I'm gonna take a budweiser and grill chicken break...I haven't eaten.

I'll keep updating it a little bit and I'll try to make one every Monday. Thats my day off.

And No, not just Marvel/DC...I'm gonna try to update it with the big 5 companies (read the top of the post)...its just alot of copy and pasting and typingthat I have to do...Its a pain. But if its gonna get some of you guys back into comics. It's worth it.

Ahemm....the most important news this week is that Blackest Night begins. Also its week two of Wednesday Comics and I am loving the hell out of it.

Also you left out the site I always big up iFanboy

Simmer down now.

I'll get to DC and everything else after I get some grub in me...

Alright...everything is on order now. No matter if this post fails. I'll still try to be here every week.

If I was able to convice just one of you to start reading again, my time writing all this junk up was worth it.

great job Cidman, much appreciated

My 2 cents: The Batman comics are currently the best thing going in the world of comics. In case you don't know, Bruce Wayne is dead and there are a bunchof books continuing that story. You got:

Batman
Batman & Robin - probably the best, written by Grant Morrison art by Frank Quitely, new Batman and new Robin trying to coexist
Gothan City Sirens - about I think Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn
Detective Comics - all about Batwoman, a lesbian, and her origins I think. Written by Greg Rucka supposed to be very good.
Red Robin - Tim Drake not believing Bruce Wayne is dead and searching the globe for him

I don't read comics myself but know alot of people that do and I'm always interested in what's going on. On the Marvel side, Amazing Spiderman issupposedly great right now, along with the cosmic stuff like Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy. Lots of X-Men stuff happening too for the X-fans...includingX-Men Forever which is basically a continuation of the 1990s X-Men stories that people either love or hate, and an X-Men/Avengers crossover.

Nice thread! This Dark X-men story looks

, I might need to pick upwhatever issues they appear in.

it just started but i like it so far. it'll be in most of the X books (mainly in uncanny) and in dark avengers along with that dark x-men limited.

other than that IncredibleEv and Falcon4567 hit it when they mentioned blackest night going on in the green lantern books, the whole batman fam andmarvel's space books (nova, guardians of the galaxy and the war of kings event). all worth picking up

Yezzir. And its real funny that my comic book connect didn't wanna let me buy any of he Battle For The Cowl, Batman R.I.P. stuff. He was like"Don't waste your money on it". So it was cause of him that I was out of the loop the past year. I picked up Battle For the Cowl and loved it.The Oracle and the Commisioner Gordon 1-shot was awesome...He choked out Mr. Freeze with chain !!! I'm thinking of picking up the Azrael BFTC 3-part too. We'll see.

This is stuff I've picked up lately. I can't seem to locate my Red Robin and the Battle For The Cowl series. I think its in my car. Hmmm...

Go to your library...what yours doesn't have...you can request it from the pretty much your entire state and pick it up 2-3 days later from your library. All for free...not one dime.

I've read just about every damn X-Men TPB ever made cause of the library. Thats alot of books!!!

The reason I hate Torrents is cause the computer screen gives me a headache after a while and it's one of the reasons why comics have gone up in price to $3.99. Since alot of people don't buy them anymore, The prices gotta go up...artists, writers, editors, colorists, book binderies, all these people have to get paid one way or another so if people don't buy either series' get cancelled or the people that keep the comics getting printed have to pay for it. Sooner or later all comics are gonna be $4 - $5

. Everybody been saying its just Marvel and DC doing it to get more sales, but it's not necessarily that...alot of the indy companies have been charging $4 comics for years now because of low sales and all the people they have to pay. Plus alot of comic shop owners have been suffering real bad as of late (my guy is just scraping by in life)...that's why theirs tons of crossovers...to promote sales.

It's an expensive habit and the only real beef is storing all the stuff (what with the special boxes, bags, and boards) and the 3.99+ prices of course. Occasionaly we buy comics that are so hyped up but end up sucking eggs, But thats why alot of sites have reviews and previews, my fave is CBR's reviews.

Alot of you guys that have stopped reading comics should really get back into them...They read and are drawn like they're Martin Scorsese movies with the ink washing and dry brushing techniques.

I wrote this on a different forum post regarding just that to Joe Quesada. Of just how hard it is for many people of today to catch up or simply get into comics. Its pretty tough. This is just an excerpt, so you can imagine how long the whole read was.

...I think the comic market is too limited to just comic shops....and I hate that. I see some random comics at the little Waldens (I think thats the name) book stores in the malls and at my Stop & Shop market and they're like from 5 months ago cause they've been hidden in a corner somewhere. Its sad. They should definitely be near the cashier (Instead of National Inquirer a row of 1 shots I think would sell the hell out. Think of how many people (and kids!!) would look up and go "Oh crap...Spidey comic?! I want"...

I have many, many friends and co-workers interested into getting back into comics that ask me stuff like "Whats going on with (lets just say) Gambit lately?" And I say "Well he just had his own X-Men Origins one shot (They have no idea what 1 shot means btw until I explain and even then I think they forget) and he's in both Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Forever Series'...You should pick them up at your comic shop...they're really good.

I had a friend that wanted to start getting into the Dark Reign stuff cause I lent him some books in around April I think. FYI, This kid was a genius in HS. But for the love of god, he could not connect what was what in the comic shop. I let him wander around just to see what he would do, what he would pick up (and mind you this was a guy who had a $50 bill to spend on comics that day) He picked up Dark Avengers #4 I think. Wandered for about 15 minutes Picked up a Dark Reign Ironman...a Dark Reign Thunderbolts. And that was it...I didnt wanna help him with his purchases until a few days later because I wanted to hear him ask me for help with it (He hates asking for help...genius people do, btw) and if it wasn't for me doing the usual stuff when you start out in comics (Talking to your comic shop owner and making a pull list with him, giving him his email/cell for upcoming stuff newsletter, ordering the back isssues so he wouldnt be lost) He would of quit buying comics in the same week he WANTED to start.

I just know theres tons of people that want to get back into the Marvel stuff Joe, but they DO NOT KNOW WHERE OR HOW TO START...
This guy spoke some truth too...
When I was growing up, comics were everywhere. They had spinracks at every grocery store, every convenience store, every drug store, even some gas stations. They were cheap enough for kids to buy, so most kids bought 'em, including at least 90% of all boys. Kids would loan them to each other or trade them, so you could easily end up reading a lot more comics than you originally paid for. It was during the '80s when spinracks vanished and comics retreated to specialty stores and some book stores.

So DC and Marvel lost the whole kids market, which was huge. They have tried to compensate by pressuring the remaining fans to buy heavily. That's why we keep getting these big, complicated crossover events. The current distribution system sucks, so now the comics are sucking, too.
IDK if any of you remember but it was like over a month ago that I , myself, could not for the love of god figure out on my own which was the main or best current X-Men book! Me! I've been buying comics my whole life but I gave the book up about 2002 when it was just everywhere and gave up on it. Then when I wanted to get back....There was like 4 Wolverine books, 4 X-men school of gifted books, like 3 Different X-forces, 3 main plot X-Men books crazy. So if it confused me. How the hell do they expect regular people to get into them?

Truth man. That's why when it comes to X-men, I just stick with the origin titles. I just got back into comics again in 2005. Basically what I did was stick to my top 10 characters. Deadpool, Cable, Wolverine, War Machine, Iron Man, X-force, etc. But then new series were starting and i would research them and if i liked them, i'd start up on them.

So basically a good plan for those of you who wanna start up again or for the 1st time, just pick your fav. characters and go from there.
