WELCOME TO THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE -*RIP STAN LEE & Boseman* - D&W OUT NOW - Doomsday = RDJ back

Tony going from radical to conservative and Steve going from conservative to radical is a great parallel in the MCU.

Tony went from irresponsible, flippant and selfish to realizing his actions had consequences and he couldn't just sit back

Steve always been convenient from day 1.. rules only applied when he thought they should apply.. how many times did dude lie on his application to even get in the army? In first avenger we see him directly disobey a direct order from a commanding officer to rescue his boy something he would in numerous other films

THIS
It's crazy to think that Tony in IM1 would've never thought about signing the accords
and
Steve from the TFA would've

and to see where they are now

I think y'all are using the wrong words with "conservative" and "radical"

The story of the MCU is the story of tony and he has been the character to show the most growth over the course of the various phases

The other character we've seen change significantly over the course of the films, Bucky/winter soldier

Tony killed people with his products. Steve lied to serve his country. Tony didn’t fight for the little guy until he was in a life or death situation. Steve put himself in life or death situations to fight for the little guy.

They both **** boys. #teampeterparker

Tony was the wonder kid, he came up with the ideas for the products that were used to kill people (conveniently you excluded that his company provided weapons to guys like Steven to actually kill people).. can't have a serious conversation if you can't even start off with the right facts

Iron man started with him doing a weapons demonstration for the military

You’re clearly looking for something that isn’t here
That's exactly what you're doing.

You're worrying about a non issue.

Implying Asian directors and writers can't make a movie with an Asian main character without Asian stereotypes is stupid.

Suggesting it would be a challenge to do so is massively ignorant

this isn’t a Black Panther situation because Black Panther was well more known before his first appearance in Civil War than Shang Chi, let alone his solo film.
This isn't a "situation" at all. Being more well known has nothing to do with you saying it'll be a challenge to make a movie without Asian stereotypes.

Stereotypes are not exclusive to superhero movies. Both the Black Panther and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung-Fu comics had stereotyoes in them. Coogler managed to avoid it. I'm pretty sure the Asian writer they've already hired (that's written two other superhero flicks) and the Asian director they'll eventually choose will too.

I’m giving you facts dealing with past Marvel films.
No you're not. You seem out of touch with reality. Spending way too much time focusing on old past issues Marvel has already remedied.

Pretending these are pertinent facts to this announcement is sad. Its like bringing up Marvel being hesitant to introduce magic to the MCU in the past just to say they'll struggle to depict magic in Dr. Strange

Marvel was hesitant doing the Mandarin properly and was hesitant doing the Ancient one properly so how would doing a Shang Chi film with an all Asian cast NOT be a challenge? I’m sure Marvel can do it but it will be a challenge nonetheless
A challenge for whom? The Asian director? The Asian writer? The Asian actors?

The Mandarin is an Asian stereotype in every aspect starting with his name. The Ancient One was also a specific type of stereotype.

Like exactly what challenge are you even talking about with Shang Chi? Cuz now it just sounds like you're saying cuz he's Asian there's some inherent issue that stereotypes will be hard to avoid or manage.

And the two directors you named haven’t made a film for a major franchise that costs $150 mil + to make
Its a martial arts film just with a bigger budget set in the MCU.

Having a resume of past movies that have had grossed highly is far more important than having directed a movie with a big budget.

If we're talking fa2cts, you're not paying attention to history or the recent trend of directors being tapped to direct big budget movies the past 10years.

foreal, take all that CNN, political fox news speak the **** up outta here jack

Especially when both original versions of their characters would be seen as "conservative"

As soon as tony stopped manufacturing weapons and started going to clean energy.. plus giving away educational grants.. wonder how supposed "conservatives" would view him?

I'm sure the NRA would lovvvvvvveeee him and how his views changed.. and regulation and accountability seems very in line with the pro 2nd amendment folks

Stuff like that is usually general loose (and weak) comparisons to make what appears to be an interesting insight over a course of events between two characters using one or two points that are broadened but given any in depth scrutiny and examination they're false and/or lacking.

Like the Malcolm X/MLK Jr and Prof X/Magneto comparison some love to use.

Nothing epitomizes Steve more than:

In avengers, he chastises tony for saying "I would just cut the wire"

And in first avenger, when they're on their training run the offer is made to get the flag and that person doesnt have to run the rest of the way.. Steve does something that endears him to those making decisions, he pulls the pin out of the flag pole

Captain Hypocrite

Captain Hypocrite

Another example:

In avengers, chastises tony for questioning shield/nick fury (which he eventually figures out tony was right after he does his own snooping)

Winter soldier, the whole damn movie

Steve simply has trouble dealing with reality, ppl and gov. being practical, and pragmatism.

He had to be in the ice. He would've been retired and/or dishonorably discharged had he been around to deal with the bombs dropping, the Korean war, red scare, cold war, and the Vietnam war. Not to mention several asassinations. Hell, if he had seen the camps he probably wouldn't be the same person.

Y’all see this ****?!?

To be honest I can’t see Marvel cannibalizing themselves with 3 trailers this week. A4 would completely overshadow Captain Marvel and Far From Home would completely take away any tension in the first A4 trailer.

They shouldn’t have killed Spider-Man :rolleyes now they’re in an awkward situation
