what are the benefits for a man to get married?

Why would get married to someone that makes you feel like it's a contract or legal bind though :lol

Clearly you should marrying the chick you want to spend your life with and the word marriage doesn't make you cringe, not all this extra stuff.

Yeah....

This thread is still going?

I thought we agreed. THE benefit of marriage is feeling all lovey dovey and spiritual with someone. That's it. /thread

That feel is gone way before you even get married.

because IT IS, and da courts treat it as such, fall asleep at da wheel to your own peril.

in 2013 you can do everything with a broad without getting married to her, da idea of marriage is antiquated.

hell, picking a BABY MOTHER is more important then picking someone to marry, because THAT'S forever.

Fam who are you trying to convince?...nobody gives a ***** if you don't marry, in reality some of ya are better off that way, what I do ask is that if you don't intend to commit for the long haul, DON'T PLAN ON HAVING KIDS AND PROTECT YASELF

me and my girl have talked about it, and neither of us are ready to get married until we're BOTH financially stable on our own. but yeah, dudes are underestimating genuinely enjoying your girl's company. don't get me wrong, i like going out and having drinks with friends. but now? i rather order a pizza, sit home with my girl, have drinks to ourselves and watch a movie. i guess i'm just wired differently than a lot of yall
thats all i want and what i need , just chilling at the house in sweat pants or jeans on a couch fondling under a blanket watching scandal or what ever comes out tuesday on iTunes with a dog roaming around and a kid trying to balance himself walking. soon

having genuine relationships with a few > having relationships lacking substance with many IMO

i enjoy being with my girl, and doing things with her. i got a dog too so i guess it works out :lol

i mean, when they get married i don't think they hate who they're with. people change over time and with different circumstances like finances, children etc

I NEVER agree with you, but this....THIS right here.....is da truth

Also the person who you think makes the best spouse, is NOT always the best person to have a child with. Lord knows how many happily married couples had a seed and found out their significant other was a complete fail at being a parent.

My brother just got engaged at 36 and one of his close friends in his early 40's.

A man who has his stuff together will remain desirable. They are getting married because they are ready for it and it's what they want now.

How long did they know their fiancé/wives for tho?...

I'm more referring to bachelors, slaying dimes all their lives and living the pimp lifestyle into their late 30's and once that magic starts going downhill they automatically want to hit a switch and become a husband in a years time....simply because those things that made them happy, are no longer exciting and are starting to feel Father Time creeping on them...that's when dudes make irrational decisions and get got by a Gold digger if they have their money situation right...or simply end up alone paying for escorts to get their rocks off....you can't just change lifestyles from one day to the next....you been a player all your life only concern with yourself you can't just up and train your heart/mind/peen to accept the sacrafices of marriage and selflessness that comes along with it.

Each for a few years. They were both living that bachelor lifestyle while keeping one eye open for potential without a set timeframe to get married

They did it the right way, enjoyed themselves until they were ready fir marriage AND until they had the right person.

Good for them, they were lucky to have that ONE on deck, some dudes really do believe is a matter of flicking a switch and THE one will just magically appear...ol' storybook type of dudes...lol

Definitely can't flip the switch like that. But you can still live that bachelor lifestyle with the understanding that eventually you want to settle down so you always keep one eye open towards that.

And let's be real some are more desirable to wonen than others and will have an easier time making the transition. Also those who make the transition because they want to and not because they have to will be fine.

See thats the thing, for those of yall that really r cool with chilling on the couch with a chick watching netflix or what not all the time maybe this is the right type of lifestyle for yall but not everyone built like that.  I can enjoy that once in awhile but definitely not all the time and don't think that's just for me like that even when I get older

Forreal

There's nothing wrong with settling down with a chick but that doesn't mean the most exciting things you do should be dinner and movies.

I have some friends who instantly became boring after starting a serious relationship. Others are still cool and their chicks are cool too so don't mind them tagging along depending on the situation.

To keep it real, my boys with kids and not married are far less fun than I am...I'm the married one and I'm the one trying to drag my mans out to Vegas...lol

Legally, unless she makes more bread...none.

But don't be fooled, u can be made to pay alimony, child support n a bunch of other stuff you didn't think about even if you aren't married. And that's real.

This, I was married, wife got preggers by some other cat and the court tried to make me pay child support. Wife told judge it wasn't mine and that we never consummated the marriage. Most I got was a bj and that was when we were in high school. I even took a test that said the child wasn't mine and he still wanted to pin me. It wasnt until the dude stepped up in jail to claim his child that I was let go.

Sadly I was in the Navy the whole time. We got married and she dropped me off at the airport, didn't see her again for 3 years.

Man I know too many chicks that do this, once they pregnant they pick the dude with the most money that they'd be able to get from as the 1 to pin the baby on outa all the potential baby daddies and go from there
